I'm taking it

So I ended up having my audition for the singing gig on Saturday morning.   I ended up being late because the 33 was closed (there was a really bad accident), so I had to take a different, MUCH SLOWER route to the church (which is on Main St. Buffalo).

Anyway, I warmed up when I got there, and then sang 2 of my favorite pieces: Crucifixion by Samuel Barber, and O Thou that Tellest (Handel).  He (Jim, the director) was impressed with my singing and then had me do some sight-reading.  I did OK on the sight reading, but definitely not my best.  It's obvious that I haven't done any in forever.

My voice teacher told me before my audition that he would want to wait a few days to think it over before deciding to hire me or not and that he may decide not too.  I was fine with that...it would have made my decision much easier if he'd said no.

After the singing, we talked about the position, my experience, etc.  The job sounded even better than when Ms. Jolley (my teacher) told me about it.  After our little interview/discussion, he said that he wanted to hire me, that he'd love to have me, and that he thought I'd be great and that this would really open doors for me.  I told him I was pretty sure I wanted it, but I'd get back to him.

I told Pastor Jenn (of the Meth church) on Sunday night that I was leaving.  Last night she told me that she was going to post my job in the paper and asked if I would stay on and rehearse the choir until someone new is found.  I said that's fine.  I do feel badly though...Jenn told Tim (my best friend)'s grandma and she told me yesterday how disappointed she is, but that she's happy that I have this opportunity.  Tim said pretty much the same thing when I told him the other day.  Tonight Jenn's husband asked me if the rumor was true and expressed his disappointment/well-wishes.

So, all I have to do now is call Jim in the morning &  leave him a message telling him that I'm in.  I'm excited about this prospect!  It's a professional singing job!  I've been praying about it a ton and definitely feel this is the way to go.  If the Lord's in it (which I believe he is), who knows what doors will open from here!  I look back at the winding path that I've taken so far and I know that I could have done things differently, but right now, I'm glad things have gone the way that they have.  If they hadn't, I really don't think I'd have this opportunity.  I just need to keep seeking & following the Lord.

Yay! :-D

On a side note, we have VBS this week @ the Meth church.  I'm the music director.  The music is actually fun, but it's soooo exhausting!  I really don't know how I'm awake so late right now!  There are tons of motions for each song and the kids are of course obnoxious. :-p  Kim (Tim's wife) helped me tonight & I'm sooo thankful she was there!  It's definitely better to have 2...or 10 of us with those crazy kids!  It definitely is fun, although I'll be quite thankful when Thursday night arrives and we're all done.

And finally, here's a picture of my little precious Marmalade taking an afternoon snooze.  Isn't he so adorable? :-D

Blessings, peace & love to you!
