I haven't done an actual "hey, this is what's been going on" update in a while, so I thought it might be a good time to do one :)
My break was fantabulous. Oodles of Biscuit, Big D, and Bailey does a heart and mind good. Plus, I had Larry as my "date" for Midnight Mass, which was fun. Christmas was quiet without my brother there, but there was still some livelyness. I went to the mall a few times, lounged around...things of that nature. Biscuit "kicked" Big D and I out of the house one day (she wasn't mad or anything), and we ended up visiting Bailey at the Elks for a few hours. Good times :) New Years was quiet too. I was in Waterford to see Joe and his new house. We made dinner, watched part of the Packers game, sat in the hot tub, watched the ball drop and went to sleep. Exciting, I know. I don't really love New Years, so it was perfect for me. Anytime I can lay around in an Oswego hoodie and my fleece pants is pretty much my idea of a good time.
Monday was Inauguration. It was fantastic. I will say for Pataki getting crucified he took it like a gentleman ("The last decade has been like Rip Van Winkle...it's been asleep". He just smiled and clapped). Plus I got to see Tommy and JOC, and that was fun. Oddly enough, John Sullivan and Joe played phone tag all morning so we could meet up, but it seemed all was lost. Until Joe and I were walking to one of the events, and I look over, and there stands Cap'n Jack. We proceeded to have the greatest afternoon, just hanging with him and his friend, which also included getting actual tickets and great seats to the concert that night, which I will be forever greatful. Speaking of, the concert was amazing. Ben Vareen was good, and Willie Colon (who is a Latin singer) was also good, but two songs took a half hour. Joe started making up lyrics, and it was hilarious. Natalie Merchant was fantastic even with her proclamation of "Six great years ahead" ("The good news? He will get reelected. The bad news? He's going to be impeached"-Joe). And hearing "Kind and Generous" in person was amazing. Then James Taylor played. I won't lie...I love him. A lot. I have many James Taylor songs on the iPod, and Bailey has the Christmas album which I need to steal :) I kind of wish he would have done "Shed a Little Light", but I'm ok with the fact that he didn't. There are no words for the show he put on with just him, a piano, and drums. I will see him again in concert, even if I have to go alone, because he's just that awesome.
Tuesday was the drive back from Albany, and work. Work has been ok this week. Jonathan comes back on Monday, and I can't wait to hear of his adventures.
I also have a newfound determination in regards to certain needed changes in my life. Even on a cloudy day, I'm still positive :)
I think that about catches you all up. Hope you are having a fantastic beginning of 2007...
