Oscar fun!

I actually got to watch all of the Academy Awards last night. I either forget and have something else planned or let my family bully me out of watching it. But I was determined this year especially since Hugh Jackman was hosting. A few of my favorites and WTF? moments
• Hugh in a tux *sigh*
• Most of the dresses were beautiful. What was up with Reese Witherspoon’s dress though? She’s usually spot on. Not sure what the heck Tilda Swinton was wearing but her makeup was loads better than it was last year. Love Whoopi but she’s needs a stylist stat! Favorite dress? Penelope’s vintage Balmain. You could almost feel the history off that dress. And it was pretty.
• Opening number was cool. Anne Hathaway can sing!
• Bringing in 5 past winners to introduce the nominees. That was much more touching than showing a clip of the movie. Anne Hathaway’s reaction to Shirley’s intro made me tear up.
• I liked that they didn’t switch presenters for every award. It flowed much better grouping the awards.
• RPattz…nuff said
• The big musical montage with Beyonce could have been so much better but I still got to watch Hugh dance so it wasn’t a total loss.
• I was glad Jennifer Aniston was so charming and did so well as a presenter. I can’t imagine how hard that was with Brad and Angelina sitting right there in the front row. Jack Black was a great person to pair with her. Loved it when he talked about taking his Dreamworks money and betting it on Pixar for the Oscar. He’s brilliant!
• Why wasn’t Heath Ledger in the Memorial? I understand ending with Paul Newman. But Heath should have been in there either first or next to last. Very odd.
• Became a fan of A.R. Rahman. Loved his spirit and voice.
• Loved loved loved that Kate Winslet won! She’s so amazing. Touching acceptance speech too. I couldn’t help it…I cried.
• Speaking of acceptance speeches…Dustin Lance Black FTW! and Greg Cannom WTF?
• New clips from HBP afterwards. I stood 2 feet in front of my TV to make sure I didn’t miss anything.

Must add...A list of memorable quotes from last night here.

Staying on the topic of movies...
Has anyone gone to the website for the movie 2012?  Not much there but there is a link to a Sony viral site - http://www.instituteforhumancontinuity.org/#/home .  It’s a lot of fun to explore if you don’t take it too seriously.  You can see dramatizations of different end-of-the-world scenarios.  Some of it is pseudo-science but still interesting.  You can sign up for updates by entering the “lottery” for a space in one of their fictional underground or ocean habitats once the earth is ravaged.  I didn’t but that’s just because they wanted too much info.  If you’re bored, it’s a great distraction.
