hey gelfond

You know how sometimes when you go to type something in a search engine, and a suggested past searched word or phrase pops up?  The subject line of this post was a suggested phrase. Hey gelfond? I have no idea what that means.

i know a good song when i hear it.. "Barracuda" by Heart is a good song.

For my Population Issues class we did a section on immigration and there were some astonishing remarks made in class.  (e.g. "I bet ASIA is the COUNTRY with the most people living here.")  So the 'professor' had us break into groups and make up 5 questions we had about immigration patterns, policies, etc... Also, jsut to keep it interesting, he also had us write down 5 answers we knew were correct about immigration.  Here's a couple of FACTS that these undergrads KNOW TO BE TRUE about immigration policy and procedures.

  1. Not taking away American benefits.
  2. The country has a much higher population and there is more competition for jobs. Also terrorism.
  3. Sent money back to families
  4. Four ways of immigration, pause waves.
  5. Most immigrants want to learn English.
  6. Fingerprints and eye scans for everyone entering.
  7. Immigration will be a major part of population growth in the U.S.
  8. Immigration has a huge cultural impact on a nation.
  9. Congress is currently working on a plan to build a wall/fence.
  10. NAFTA indirectly helped to encourage illegal immigration.
That's just the top ten. Yeah, also terrorism.  #10 was kind of the answer I wrote for my group, except mine literally said "BLAME NAFTA" and my professor made it 'more appropriate' so he could post it online.  Most of these answers are fragments.  I bet the Mexicans did this to us--made us all stupid, so we cannot put a logical sentence together anymore.
