I'm OBSESSED! OBSESSED!

Okay so for the fast few days I have been on a MAJOR Barbra Streisand kick. MAJOR. As in I have watched Funny Girl everyday since I bought it. I just watched Funny Lady too. Was it as good as the first? Nah. But did I cry? YES. No lie I love this woman. Click the cut for more ramblings about Barrrbrraaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa :)

So where should I start with Babs. First off lets start off with her name. It's BARBRA. Not BARBARA. It's BARBRA. You have to be truly awesome to get away with taking out a letter. Now can we discuss her hair in Funny Girl? Okay in the beginning it's eh, but that's because she's not amazingly famous yet. But as soon as she gets into doing her hair in updos? FLAWLESS. And even towards the end where she cuts it short? It's still fabby fabby fab. Can I just point out something? Okay i'm totally obsessed with the part towards the end where Nick (ugh Nick more on him later) returns from Oklahoma. Babs coming out of a wooded area, in this gorgeous purple thing and she's holding a stick or something of that sort. When she sees Nick's car she yells "NICK!" and then THROWS whatever was in her hand.

Okay so here are my questions.

What is it? Where did she find it? Was it worth throwing back into the trees after seeing her husband who ends up getting ARRESTED?

If anyone can help with that I would be incredibly happy.  Okay so my next Barbra/Funny Girl/Obsession is her nails. YOU KNOW WHAT I'M TALKING ABOUT. Did Fanny Brice REALLY have nails like that? NOW DID SHE? And was it that hard for Babs to have them cut/removed for the few weeks the film shot as to be historically correct? (Even though most of the movie is not historically correct). Unless Fanny Brice really DID have crazy long nails like that. Again if anyone has an answer that would be wonderous!

So another thing I love about the movie issssssssssss Barbra's accent. Ah the ever famous New York accent. I really wish I had that accent, but alas I am an UPSTATE New Yorker and we talk like every Newscaster in America. (The famous ones, not the ones from the boondocks that do actually have accents.)

Ugh and now on to Fanny's first husband Nick Arnstein. Now, before seeing this movie I never realized that people ACTUALLY had been professional gamblers (are there still some around?) because if my husband did that I would kick his butt faster than you can say

IMTHEGREATESTSTAR

(Which happens to be one of my new favvy fav songs.)

Omar Sharif's accent (was that his real one?) started to get on my nerves by the end of the movie and I was DELIGHTED (sarcasm) that he was in the sequel Funny Lady.

But all in all I LOVED Funny Girl, thought Funny Lady was alright and am currently watching Hello, Dolly! for the umpteenth time :)

Finally, I think it's hilarious that Dolly Levi pops up EVERYWHERE in the movie. Is she the equivalant of the modern day "creeper" ?

Hm that's a thinker..

P.S. I love how I get to see the train station used in Hello, Dolly!  whenever I go to the city by train. Naturally I have to point it out to whomever is with me at the time :)

barbra streisand, fanny brice, hello dolly!, funny lady, nick arnstein, accents, new york, oklahoma, nails
