grieving inappropriately... and other happenings

As some of you may have heard, there was a death in my family.  My poppy was a sick man, so it is probably best that he has passed on.  It is times like these that I do sincerely hope there is an afterlife or heaven, if you will.  He surely deserved to go there and I will miss him immensely... especially since I am going straight to hell in a handbasket.

I am not sure why I respond to death with humor.  It is COMPLETELY inappropriate!!  However, that did not stop myself and my aunt Kas from acting like bastards. Its amazing, the way of the Catholic wake.  Everyone is playing the "two steps forward, one step back game" as no one REALLY wants to be at the front of the room with the dead body.  They chit chat and pretend that they are all together for an entirely different reason.  Its like the proverbial elephant in the middle of the room that no one is talking about. Except it is creepy, and wrinkly and smells of chemicals...

Anyhow, I find that the best medicine is to find the fun members of the family and crack jokes in the back of the room like the rejects that we are.  All back of the bus... and shit.

That being said, I am damn glad that is over.

So on Tuesday, Jesus called me (its his nickname, I am not a yahoo) and invited me to see the 4th Die Hard.  Really, I was pleasantly surprised.  Now, mind you, I went in with minimal expectations for a plot.  It was not terrible in that department.  Really though, we know I was there for the explosions. They followed in the footsteps of the 3 prior movies quite well.  Obscene amounts of explosions, most of which entirely implausible.   There was no temporary suspension of disbelief.  I checked it at the door and got it back later!
So, all in all, I found it enjoyable.  Also, after the movie, there was a bit of speculation as to where the next one would go.  I have decided it will be "Die Hard in Space".

Right.... lets see. Oh yes, I added yet another Geek facet to my extensive resume.  I am now participating in my first pen and paper RPG.  I have very kind and patient friends, and I have not felt more confused in my life.  I do get to be a crazy battle cleric that burns nunneries to thwart a lich queen (she gives out hallucinogenic cookies) so that rocks pretty hard.

Yeah.. I will try to update more often so this is not so ridiculous next time.
