A late post with happy ending

Last Wednesday, JP and I went outside to mess with the broken fence segments. This was after work, around 6pm, and Molly the dog was outside with us. We went inside, then all three of us (with Mack the kid, not Molly the dog) went out to eat. After that, we came home, took our showers, got ready for bed, etc. I was laying in bed around 10:30pm, and I asked JP where Molly was. I had gotten used to her sleeping at the foot of the bed, and when she's not there, I do notice it. Sometimes it takes me a while, but I do notice.

Molly wasn't anywhere in the house. At all.

JP and I took turns driving around the local subdivisions looking for her. We were both just sick that she was gone. We figure that even though we *thought* she had come in with us, she must have been left outside. Being the curious dog that she is, Molly must have gotten out of the broken fence and gone exploring.

We checked all the local animal shelters, twice in some cases, and we looked all over for her.

Last night, JP was on his way to his karate class when he saw a sign, "FOUND DOG" with Molly's picture on it.

We called the number and made arrangements to come retrieve our errant pooch. It turns out she was picked up by a lady who loves dogs, and had no problem with spoiling a stray absolutely rotten, especially when it was obvious that she was already spoiled at home. This darn stupid dog got to sleep on their bed! The woman worked days, her husband worked nights, and Molly pretty much stayed in bed all day long with them. She didn't like being left outside, and she made that abundantly clear.

We offered her some money for finding Molly and taking care of her, then making the fliers and posting them, but she wouldn't take it. She's going to wind up with a thank you letter with the money in it anyway, and no return address. We really appreciate that she was able to reunite us with our stray family member, and that she took such wonderful care of that dumb, lovable dog.

(Just to give you an idea of how much this lady invested in Molly... the signs she put up - approximately 20 of them - were all professionally laminated.)
