Reading back in
kathrynrose's journal, I found this movie meme, and I kind of liked it. Granted, this apparently made the round a month ago, but I didn't do it then, so I'm playing catch up.
1. Name a movie that you have seen more than 10 times.
Under Siege. I am not really a Steven Seagal fan, but I love this movies for some odd reason. My sister and I must have watched this a million times - it was one of the movies we watched nearly every weekend when we visited our dad. “The safest place on this ship is right behind you.”
2. Name a movie that you've seen multiple times in the theater.
I don’t usually go see a movie twice, but I made an exception for Serenity. I already had plans to see it with my movie buddy Eric, and then I went to see it with JP.
3. Name an actor that would make you more inclined to see a movie.
Kiefer Sutherland. It’s no secret, that boy is on my top 5 “I’d do them in a heartbeat” list. It’s kind of a tie between him and Rob Thomas.
4. Name an actor that would make you less likely to see a movie.
I can’t stand Adam Sandler and Mike Meyers. Granted, there are exceptions to this rule. I loved 50 First Dates, which was hilarious. Even though I know Shrek has lots of non-potty humor for the adults to get, I can’t get past the fact that Mike Meyers voices Shrek. I can enjoy the movies if I turn the sound off and read the captioning because then I can’t hear Mr. Meyers.
5. Name a movie that you can quote from.
I’m not very good at quoting from movies, but I think everyone can remember “Hello, my name is Inigo Montoya. You killed my father. Prepare to die.”
6. Name a movie musical that you know all the lyrics to all the songs.
I don’t really watch many musicals, but I have the soundtrack for The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas, and I do know several of the songs at the point. And after thinking about it, I know all the lyrics to all the songs in The Lion King. That counts as a musical, right?
7. Name a movie that you have been known to sing along with.
Mulan, The Lion King, Beauty and the Beast. Yes, I am pathetic.
8. Name a movie that you would recommend everyone see.
Too bad this is about movies and not TV series. I think everyone should see The Princess Bride, mostly because most everyone has.
9. Name a movie that you own.
I own over 400 DVDs. Take your pick. Here’s an oddball one for you: Vampire Effect.
10. Name an actor that launched his/her entertainment career in another medium but who has surprised you with his/her acting chops.
I honestly can’t think of one. I know there are several that have crossed over from the music industry, but none of them impress me with their acting abilities.
11. Have you ever seen a movie in a drive-in? If so, what?
I remember seeing one when I was a wee little girl. I thought it was Urban Cowboy but my mother recently informed me otherwise. I can’t remember what is was, though. ETA: I just remembered that Mom said it was Coal Miner’s Daughter we saw at the drive-in.
12. Ever made out in a movie?
Yes, and we were so engrossed with each other that I don’t even remember what movie it was.
13. Name a movie that you keep meaning to see but just haven't gotten around to it.
At the moment, Meet the Robinsons is on that “I need to see it but just haven’t found the time to go” list
14. Ever walked out of a movie?
Yes. I took Mack and his friend Nate to see the first Pirates of the Caribbean movie, and Mack was misbehaving. I warned him that he’d better settle down or we’d leave. Since I’m a mother that sticks to her word, the next time he acted out, I picked him up, took Nate by the hand, and we left. Nate was crying because he really wanted to see it, and Mack was begging me to give him another chance. No dice. I’m a mean mommy. I know, that's not really what they question meant, but it didn't specify, did it?
15. Name a movie that made you cry in the theater.
A Walk in the Clouds. When my friend and I got to the theater about 20 minutes early, we saw all the people coming out from the previous showing. There was not a single dry eye walking out that door. Old men, boys, women of all ages, even a younger child that had been taken to see it all walked out sniffling and wiping their eyes. And I was no different after seeing the movie.
16. Popcorn?
Yes, please, with a little salt, no butter, and served with Goobers.
17. How often do you go to the movies?
I wish I could go more often. I’m lucky to go six times a year. I mostly just wait for the stuff to come out on DVD.
18. What's the last movie you saw in the theater?
I took Mack to see Spiderman 3 a couple weeks ago. That was fantastic, except for the middle which was kind of boring. The ending made up for it.
19. What's your favorite/preferred genre of movie?
I like action, suspense and comedy mostly. Actually, I’m picky about my comedy, preferring high brow humor and not this potty humor that is prevalent in today’s comedies. If I’m in a mood, I like a good drama.
20. What's the first movie you remember seeing in the theater?
I know I saw movies in the theater prior to this, but the first one I really remember seeing was E.T. and now that I think about it, we saw it twice.
21. What movie do you wish you had never seen?
Lord of War was one of the most disgusting, bloody movies I have ever seen. The Devil’s Advocate was on that left a general bad taste in my mouth. I felt unclean for a week after seeing that.
22. What is the weirdest movie you enjoyed?
Freeway. It’s a sick, twisted modern day “Little Red Riding Hood” story featuring Keifer Sutherland (♥) and Reese Witherspoon. I love it and laugh myself silly watching it. Everyone else that watches it thinks it’s just disturbing.
23. What is the scariest movie you've seen?
Event Horizon scared the crap out of me so badly I can’t watch that movie ever again. I get the willies just thinking about it.
24. What is the funniest movie you've seen?
I find TV shows to be funnier than most movies in general. As I mentioned earlier, 50 First Dates was hilarious, but I also get a good giggle at some of the movies Mack watches, like Big Fat Liar which he just watched last night.
