A day of fun and frustration

I had a lovely Turkey Day up until about 8:30 this evening.  I got up this morning, made a pumpkin cake, went to the mothership for dinner, laid around watching the football game and chatting with my family, and just had an all around wonderful day.

After leaving the mothership, I decided I really wanted to do some walking, shopping and people watching. Mack said he was feeling well enough to join me this time (unlike Wednesday night where he waited until twenty minutes after leaving the house to tell me he was hurting and wanted to go home) so we went to the dreaded evil Wally World. I picked up a few things to assist with my weaving (cheap-o knee highs to be skein holders and a plastic box to hold most of my weaving supplies in one location) and helped Mack pick out presents for the family. I found a lovely plaid microfiber throw like Mack's super-mega-soft Spiderman blanket. Now I can quit stealing his blanket.

After arriving home, I wanted to get some weaving done, so I got myself all situated with my little bag of emergency weaving supplies, my loom and a drink at hand. I started following the pattern, wove a few sets, and then I realized I had dropped a warp thread somewhere back around the end of the first set I had done. I started unweaving, fixed the dropped warp thread, and then managed to royally screw up what I was working on.

After half an hour or so of trying to fix it, I finally called it quits (it was only eight inches long) and started another section. Two sets into that, I managed to break a warp thread. *sigh* So I fixed the broken warp, started weaving again, and realized I had it so screwed up that there was no way I could fix that. I decided to start over, so I moved the warp down and began a new section. I think I've managed to fray the warp enough that I may just need to re-warp the whole darn thing. Oh well.

So much for getting this ribbon done over the holiday break. I realize there's still plenty of time, but I have plenty of other things on the agenda. Friday's hockey game will now be preceded by a trip to the autorama. I have to clean the house for the next Meatloaf and a Movie night, and I have tons of Latin work to get done before going back to school on Monday.
