I am not afraid of getting older. Yes, today is my third annual 29th birthday, but I do not fear age. I embrace it, as I embrace my youth (hence the "forever 29").
I received some lovely presents this weekend from my family.
- Mom and Bruce (my step-dad) ordered a book I really wanted (The Diary of Martha Ballard), but it won't be here for a few more weeks. It's one of those hard-to-find things that I sincerely hope will be found. They also bought me a subscription to a magazine I wanted, The Herb Quarterly.
- mandymcbliss is a good sister, and she gave me Big Bad Voodoo Daddy and The Labyrinth Soundtrack CDs.
- Emily gave me some candles that smell like hazelnut creme (Yummy!) and a candle tray to collect the drips.
- Austin surprised me with two big Sudoku puzzle books, one of which is here at work and I've already done three puzzles in it this morning.
- d4klutz gave me the money to buy the sundial ring/pendant I wanted, which I ordered last night.
- Mack (with Nana's help) gave me a picture of himself in a pretty little frame surrounded by apples and pencils. He also wrote a letter for me to which my mom included the note that said Mack asked if he could write the letter in Spanish.
So far, so good.
d4klutz, Mack and I went to Steak & Ale for dinner Saturday night. That was my birthday dinner because it was so expensive, but the price was justified by the food, which was muy delicioso.
This weekend, I spent much time fighting pain and experiencing weird hypersensitivities to anything touching certain parts of my skin. I'm still a bit sensitive this morning, but I'm slowly getting over it.
At 1:30, Mack has an appointment with the surgeon. We will discuss surgery and possibly a dental appliance to tide Mack over until surgery can be done. Fun times!
I don't feel very special today. I am not wearing my tiara today, which makes me feel like today is actually kind of mundane. My old one broke, and the new one didn't arrive in time. Oh well.
