Of lost teeth and shiny things

I took Mack to the dentist yesterday to get a "silver hat" (cap) on one of his back teeth. Once the dentist got in there and looked around, she discovered the tooth had abcessed. She told me the options were to do a root canal and crown it, or just yank it. This is a tooth that isn't supposed to fall out for another three to four years, but she assured me he wouldn't miss it if we opted to pull it. So, I told her to get rid of that sucker.

Mack put up a bit of a fuss, but after much bribing, he settled in and took (lost) it like a man.  I'm so proud of my boy. We didn't even have to tie him down.

This is the first tooth Mack has lost. He has a few that are loose, but they aren't ready to quit yet. So we put his tooth in the pillow the Tooth Fairy (a.k.a. fionna00) sent him, and went to bed. This morning when he very eagerly woke up, he discovered the Tooth Fairy (a.k.a. jenmcd) had left him a shiny gold Sacagawea dollar for that ol' tooth. Yay Mack!

The only bad thing in all of this is my insurance doesn't cover extractions. That only set me back $173 after they so kindly gave me a discount. *sigh*
