Yes, it's been over a year...

I have missed livejournal.  All my favorite peeps are here. I was going through and catching up on everyone's day-to-day when i realized it was totally unfair for me to not share.

this month i am at tech student health.  were we all this whiney when we were undergrads?  these kids come in for the dummest shit and the get pissed and CALL THEIR MOTHER ON THEIR  CELL PHONE when they dont get an antibiotic for their viral infection.  the first patient on my schedule is for "vomiting." geez, that could be anything.

I am also trying to devise a plan to align the stars and have a feasible in-patient service schedule for next year.  this is just the beginning of my "thankless" job as chief resident.  one perk! i get to come to dallas in may for a chief resident conference.  that will be fun.

on other horizons, mr m has decided to not go through with this grad program he has gotten himself into.  here are the pros and cons:

PROS:
1. We get to leave Lubbock in 1.5 years
2. He isnt wasting time doing something he doensnt know what to do with it.
3. Leaving Lub means minimizing exposure to retarded overly-conservative yahoos that make both of us want to detonate.
4. Mr. M can do something he wants to do
5. Lots of opportunities for Mr. M in DFW or SA
6. It is a pain in the ass for people to come out here, or for me to go anywhere.

CONS:
1. I have gotten an offer for a GREAT job here doing exactly what i want to do with people i really like
2. Moving sucks
3. Metropolitan areas (eg: DFW/San Antonio) are saturated with FP docs, and it will be a little tough to find a job.
4. It is cheap as hell to live here

Its pretty obvious that we are going to end up leaving here.  The dust storms are no joke anyway.
i have to admit that i am THRILLED that he is not doing this grad program.  i was trying to be supportive wife, but it is not the best thing.
