We here at Bangs Watch had begun to think that our vigilence had paid off. As time went by, fewer and fewer celebrities were giving themselves hideous bangs, and those who did go down the long and dark path of The Bang were choosing more flattering bang styles. Because some people NEED bangs. Some people LIKE bangs. Some people look GOOD in bangs!!

(Oh, it feels so good to get that off my chest. I've been wanting to say that for a loooong time. Thank you for giving me the opportunity!)

There could have easily been a "Why is Everybody Getting Rid of Their Bangs" Watch if a bunch of actresses who look really cute in bangs suddenly got extensions and were no longer banged, even though they look obviously better with bangs than without. Before last fall when bangs became the default hairstyle of every starlet on the WB, regardless of whether or not they looked good in them, I had no feelings toward them either way.

I agree that some people need and look good in bangs. I actually have no objection to bangs on most people I know in real life- my best friend from home, a good family friend (and aspiring actres), two of my college roommates, and (as noted at the beginning of the post) my sister-in-law! I also like Kristen Bell (aka Veronica Mars) and Hilary Duff in bangs, and Christina Ricci looks far better with them than without them.

When it became the popular Hollywood It Girl hair style last fall, however, a lot of people who don't have the facial shape to make bangs work followed the trend anyway, which is why bangs watch was born... :)

I think she looks better without the bangs. ;)

I did like the little wispy bangish look in the pic you posted, too. But I think she looked best in the first pic.
