This magazine article on Zhou Mi, needs to be read by everyone. Have to thank
euods so very much for this, I love you <3
My favorite parts of the article under the cut, I tried not to quote the whole thing hahaa.
ZhouMi has a dream, this dream, could be because when he was born, Mozart's <>** was playing -- ZhouMi's dream is to become to be that shining singer on stage. However, this dream differed vastly from what his parents expected of him, everyone wanted him to enter an established university, to enjoy a stable and comfortable life in the future.
"You don't have to sing, just smile, and you're already the dream lover for all the girls."
A discontented Zhoumi continued on in the competition, "I even thought of becoming ugly, but was stopped by my buddies
(baby, how can you become ugly? that's impossible) < I said that, hahaha
"How do I say it, I wasn't very interested in love then, I just wanted to be a singer that could touch everyone."
ZhouMi had to PK a girl from the same group, in his red shirt and white pants, he smiled and praised his opponent the minute he stepped on the platform, making the stage that was filled with tears and competition come to a standstill, everyone felt happy, even when they lost. During the PK round, the hosts asked him opponest if she'd fallen in love with him, she said in front of the audience, "Yes, I love him." For a girl to say that in front of a national audience, ZhouMi, you're worth it.
ZhouMi at 20 years old, left for Korea even when he couldn't even understand a single word of Korean. Big opportunity also mean a lot of torture. SM Entertainment has been notorious for it's crazy ways of training, ZhouMi, who couldn't communicate yet, was thrown into training immediately. That period is especially unforgettable for ZhouMi, "Everyday I had to undergo almost 20 hours of training, including dance, music, piano, performing. I often went to sleep without showering. But I still persevered!" ZhouMi knows, the entertainment industry is harsh, and SM has high expectations for his trainees, unless you met a certain standard, you'd never be given the chance to debut. "I couldn't stop, or so many years of of hard work would be wasted."
But his days after that were trying. Original Super Junior members were Asia's future megastars representatives like Ryeowook, Yesung and Kyuhyun, and have great amounts of fans. When ZhouMi joined, he didn't have any of that. Maybe he had, like a sea of scoldings, because people were already used to Super Junior's only Chinese member Hangeng. Many a times, ZhouMi was the "extra one".
For one who was used to getting champions so far, life had suddenly become very hard for him. He'd often practice all night with the other members, have an hour or two of sleep before more practices, watch tapes, do styles, ZhouMi wasn't afraid; if his dancing wasn't on par with the others, he'd give himself more practice, even if he danced till his calves had cramps, he wasn't daunted; He was afraid of the bad response he got at every performance, afraid of the disappointment in the other members' eyes.
His friendship with Hangeng and the other members grew in this performance time that seemed like a battle, and they became closer, when recording variety programs he'd protect the other members, when met with tough questions would play along with protecting the others, giving the best places to the others and always became the shadow that came out last... Super Junior-M finally became a real group with amazing rapport. In ZhouMi's smile, something that seems harder to be understood by others seems to be appearing -- maye that's the gift growing up's bringing him.
And the first time ZhouMi's returned to China in two years, there were many Mitang who went to the airport to welcome him. At that moment, this strong guy couldn't hold it in and cried. He used his actions to tell the world "I am back", Indeed, our Prince MiMi, after an amazing change, has finally come back. The future might be long, but at least Prince MiMi has already brilliantly started his own flight.
