A Good Time Was Had By All...

So, last night I decided I was totally in the mood for tropical drinks with umbrellas (the weather here is unbelievably hot, 90 degrees is the current temp) so I called Angie and we decided to hit up Bahama Breeze for their totally awesome margaritas. We ended up spending 3 hours in the bar talking about all sorts of things and consuming multiple "Bahameritas" (amazing margaritas by the way). LaNae soon joined us and we quickly reverted to our old high school selves talking about boys (though this time sex was a huge factor in our conversation!)

Following our large bill from Bahama Breeze, we headed over to the Pink Galleon to play a little pool and drink a little beer. I've never been in this place before, but it was totally cool. It was like an adult's arcade room with video games, pool tables, air hockey, a bar, and a band. We got a pitcher of Schlaffly's and a pool table and got down to some serious pool. I sucked as usual. However, I did discover one very amazing thing...I play pool left-handed! That's right, no more hitting with the right for me, I'm way better with my left hand! Anyway, they kicked us out at midnight (it was a Sunday) and we made plans for Thursday to go downtown and watch the Cards game while drinking our way through quite a few beers! It was a great time and I totally felt like my old self (not mopey or melancholy about Chicago).

Well, not too melancholy. For awhile there I was text messaging a very good friend and I got sad that he's not here. BUT, I know we'll see each other soon and I know we'll talk. The only thing I don't know is how I'm going to keep from missing him terribly all the time. GROWL.

Wednesday starts my new research position in the Hematology division of Wash U's grad school. I'm way excited about the work I'm going to be doing, but I'm also very anxious. I don't know anyone and the people I'm working with are a post-doc (way older) and an undergrad (quiet and underage). I have a student mentor who's a second year whom I'm going to call and see if she wants to get coffee or something so I can hopefully meet more of the grad students who are my own age. That'll be fun. I'm also beginning to look for an apartment and have found a few that are extremely cheap and close to Wash U. I'm gonna start checking them out so I can weed out the bad ones before I tell Meg and then we can decide together which one we want to live in for the next 3 years! I'm also hoping to maybe move in by July. We'll see.

Finally, I have some projects that I'm working on. First, I need to create senior cds of our songs from this last year. I have all the music, I just haven't done it yet. Then, I need to create picture cds of all the pics from this year. Have all those too but again, haven't gotten around to it yet. Finally, I'm printing off pics that I really like and am putting them in frames to put around my new apartment since I won't be seeing my awesome friends all the time. That requires a little more than the cds, but again, it's a work in progress.

Anyway, that's all for now. I have to BBQ today (ribs, yum!) and I have to wash my mother's car since I did such an awesome job on mine yesterday. Yay for running around in a bikini top getting a tan!
