so much to love

There is so much I love about this one page from Mo Willems' new book.

Really, look what he crams in, with very few words and simple images:
--pirate hook (image) (a favorite toy in our household)
-- magic wand (image)
(including both implies a lot about the character, Amanda, and/or her parents, in terms of encouraging imaginative play and not being gender-specific)
-- books (image)
-- character reading a book (image) (words)
-- it's a LIBRARY book (words) (THANK YOU!!)
-- a library book about making your own jet packs (words) (again, imaginative play as well as implying INTELLIGENT child without limits)... (and he leaves the cover of the book blank, because in this case, doesn't the title You can make it yourself: jet packs! say it all? lets the reader imagine what the cover might look like!)

... and all of that is not even the main point of the page, which is the conflict between Amanda and her stuffed alligator.

SWOON. Huge Mo Willems fan, here.
