Am watching my little girl climb under/over the rungs on her high chair. She's been fascinated lately by the obstacles it presents, and in successfully mounting them.
We as humans are really hard wired to fine such a unique joy over such things. The pure joy she feels when doing climbing over a rung is shared in a such a deep way, even though it's such a silly and small thing. She knows what she's accomplished, and her pride in it has little to do with the encouragement or rewards we present. She's happy if we share in her joy.
The world is starting to open up for her. She's fascinated by buttons and love turning things on and off. She understands that things react to her and what she does, and is so eager to see what things do. A year ago she was a lump who could barely comprehend the world.
And now she is bouncing up and down next to me demanding attention. Bye!
