Ok, I so should be in bed! I don't think I'll be sleeping much tonight anyway. I'm pretty sure my two year old has another random ear infection. Got a appointment with the doc tomorrow. Poor darlin

Hi Jen, Your post reads like something I would have written too. I almost never post replies to other journals regarding 'silly' things/posts. It's not that I think I'm "above" it or anything like that and yesterday I did have some fun on LJ with some goofy posts, but that is out of the norm for me. And what your friend Mandy said is so true. I DEFINITELY don't have enough serious conversation in my life so I am looking for it at every turn. I have enough small talk, which I don't really care for all that much, in my life with work, home, etc. So when I venture out into other territories, like LJ, I am hoping to hook up with people who will stimulate my mind, help me to think out of the box a little bit, and hopefully I can do the same with/for them.
Wanting/needing human approval is something we are conditioned to seek from birth. It is SO hard to shake that need. I mean, LJ in itself is a testimony to the fact that we all want to be heard. We all feel we have something to say. And we all hope people will respond favorably to what we say.
Anyway, enough rambling :) And you have been befriended :)
If you are up for some serious conversation I would really like another Reformers take on Covenant Theology (Jen this is open to you too). I don't know ANY THING about it and since you have done a lot of reading I was wondering what you might know.
" don't know ANY THING about it and since you have done a lot of reading I was wondering what you might know."
If you ask specific questions or bring up a specific topics, this would help me to converse with a focus. Also, my style of understanding and discussing theology is very...how can I say... personal experienced based? Not that I don't receive and believe facts about God simply from Scripture or reading (I do), but until I have experienced God for my self as say, completely sovereign, and it has change me or someone close to me because of that experience of Him, I may not have much to say. In other words... I tend to use personal testimonies as examples of theological truths. Uhhh, make sense?
God has used the knowledge of covenantal theology to radically change my relationship with Him , my heart, how I live and relate to others. So I LOVE talking about Christ and the gospel, but shy away from theological boxes. No what I mean? I am a weird xtian who doesn't fit into any box. For example...I'm PCA, but I'm way too charismatic to really fit into any PCA congregations. Ya know. I have some "weird Spiritual gifts that often make my fellow conservative PCA family feel uncomfortable.:oP Uh, sorry for the Ramble.
I like to pull things from articles and share my thoughts (see echoes_of_eden's new thread for an example). Maybe you could just comment on those.
And is the PCA the reformed or non-reformed branch of Presbyterians? I have a friend who just left the non-reformed. He was telling me that he doesn't believe charismatic gifts are still valid so I was wondering in light of your "weird Spiritual gifts" comment.
Presbyterian church in America is very conservative and reformed. The belief that the Spiritual gifts such as tongues, healing and prophesy have ceased is common among the PCA but I don't think the majority hold to this. Just to clarify, when I say prophesy I do not mean new revelations outside of Scripture or that is contradictory to it. The cannon is closed! It can mean anything from a Spirit prompted encouragement or a God given insight into someones heart or situation or preaching of Gods Word. I am familiar with the arguments for both sides and personally see no convincing evidence in the Word that they have ceased. It seems obvious and natural from what is written to assume they are still valid. My gifts aren't all that weird like snake charming or such nonsense. I do speak in tongues in my own prayer time but do not practice outside of my home. I have never seen it used properly in an orderly fashion in a congregation. Most people don't even know I have the gift. for years I refused to use it because I wanted God to give me interpretation so I could know it was from Him. Four years ago He did and validated it in a very remarkable way though my skeptical hubby. It is a very special thing when I run out of words to praise with or I have no idea how to pray. God also seems to use dreams a lot since I was a child. I have often been given interpretations for other peoples dreams who, oddly enough, are randomly compelled to share them with me. Even strangers. No sensationalism, just quiet counsel and insight although at times very powerful. Undeniably a God thing. Again, I don't tell people about this except for my inner circle.
Then would you mind if from time to time I shared my dreams with you. I have had someone interprete them before and it was amazing how accurate they were. I would really like to have that available to me again.
