So, it just occurred to me that I've been neglecting my LJ to an absolutely horrible degree, and that this must be remedied with a catch-up post.
Most of my time has been taken up by work, which is, thankfully, so close to being over (Gods, I cannot wait!). Though a decent amount of it has also been spent watching all five seasons of Boston Legal. Alan and Denny are just too funny. ^________^ I also managed to pack up everything I have in Halifax, save one suitcase's worth, and ship it to Ontario in just two days. They were not a fun two days, but they were the most productive ones I've had all summer. And since that's done, I've been using my free time to catch up on my reading. Oh! And I bought a Sony eReader, the pocket edition. It's very shiny. *grins* I can't wait to have it on my trip to visit my father in August.
Canada Day was loads of fun;
xtinethepirate and I went to Point Pleasant Park for a picnic lunch with some friends. That part would have been better had the Halifax buses actually worked.
Because I've never bitched about that before, eh? *rolls eyes* Then had a BBQ dinner with another group of friends, watched the fireworks and headed home.
We also went to the Membertou 400 celebration, which commemorated the first baptism of an aboriginal person in Canada, the Mi'kmaq shaman and prophet, Grand Chief Membertou. There was lots of native music, art, and dancing and it was great to see all sorts of different people out learning about such an integral part of Canada's cultural heritage. Though celebrating the baptism aspect of it seemed a little off to me...
Movies:
xtinethepirate and I went to see The Adventures of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert in support of the Halifax Pride Festival, which was a lot of fun. I still can't believe Hugo Weaving was cast as Agent Smith and Elrond after this film. Also, holy crap, is Guy Pearce ever hot in this movie! We also went to the cinema to see Despicable Me, which was adorable and hilarious, and Toy Story 3, which absolutely lived up to all my expectations. It was funny and sad and touching and I think I almost cried at the end. It was a wonderful movie. After which we both decided that we had to watch the first and second ones, which sent us on a nostalgic kick and led us to rewatch Mrs. Doubtfire, Milo and Otis, and Homeward Bound. ^_____________^ We've also got a Back to the Future marathon planned, as I still cannot believe that Xtine has yet to see those movies.
And yikes, that was a little longer than I meant it to be. Kudos to those of you who stuck it out. ^__^
