mm it's definitely that kind of cold that gets all the way into your bones. ::shivers::
first day of classes.. err, class, for me. hehe. gen physics. my goodness is the lecture hall packed (as oppose to honors physics that I grew so accustomed to). the prof isn't nearly as dynamic as lath (honors) but he'll do. in lecture, he said "Good thing it's cold enough today to do this experiment [which involved statics]." hah, we might as well take a class trip to the arctic to really see the effects of static. and he put up this slide of the chinese character for "car" and he defined it using chinese. yep. who said you couldn't apply your minor in other classes?
well, after class, I went on a million errands:
-first off.. bookstore. well, that was before class, but still part of my errand running. My orgo lab experiment (a tiny booklet) cost me 57 bucks. Ew. My physics books cost $115, plus I had to get the PRS (Personal Response System) which is like a remote control that we have to bring to lecture to respond to 2 questions each lecture.. meaning, I can't skip lectures. darn. And that was $30. well, I thought that was it, but apparently, I'm missing the "active learning guide" that I need to do homework. I think I'm starting to miss my honors physics course. hmph.
-went to parktrans to get a permit cuz I finally have enough credits to get a friggin resident permit on douglass. actually, I don't even know if I can get a permit. douglass requires you to be a senior (79 credits or more) but, um, I'm not technically a senior but I do have something like 86 credits, so who knows if they're willing to sell a sophomore a permit. bah. anyway, that's not the bad part. the bad part was when I got there, there was a line. oh no, not just any line. a line outside the freaking building. in the cold. in the bitter bitter cold. I finally got in the building after over 20 minutes of freezing every part of my body off, only to see that the line inside was gonna take.. hm, give or take forever? (ok, maybe an hour). was not gonna wait that long cuz the post office was closing soon, so I wasted 20 minutes of my precious body temperature going down for nothing.
-then, I went home to get my dvd to return to blockbuster cuz I totally forgot to do so before I came back to school. Thank goodness I live so close to home.. not that I couldn't have asked mom to do it, but still. I feel bad. Anyway, I also went home to get my plant cuz I need some form of life in my room. And plus, it looks so pretty. hehe.
-next up, the post office. ok, so today, I mailed out over 200 envelopes of catalogs. Not to mention, I packaged them, and oh yeah, put the catalogs together, too. It's for my dad, and since he's not home now, I had to do it. Spent almost $190 at the post office to mail out all the 70+ international envelopes. At least I didn't have to pay for the 120+ domestic envelopes too, which cost $1.06 each.
-afterward, I went to walmart. Then to the asian market. then to pathmark. let's just say, I'm not gonna be spending any more money on food until I finish everything that I got today. and I seriously thought my bloody thumb was gonna fall off because the thumb part of my glove was wet and it wasn't exactly above freezing temps outside.
-back at the apartment now. exhausted. called mom, who was way sweet and sympathetic to my day. I miss her. dad arrived in china after nearly 24 hours on the road (or rather, in the air). hmm. I don't think the munchies I packed him lasted that long. oh well. at least he got there in one piece (ok, so many he lost his mind somewhere over the pacific, but maybe he'll pick it up on his way home).
So here's to a new semester? if only I wasn't already so exhausted.
