Last night Chris and I celebrated our three month anniversary. Hehe. I find the concept of a three month anniversay rather amusing. We went out for dinner to a fondue place, which I had never done before. Pretty neat concept and great food. We stuffed ourselves and spent quite a bit on the meal, but it was worth it.

Earlier in the day we went to see Hotel Rwanda, because what better way is there to celebrate than get severely depressed together? I have to say though, I thought the movie was incredibly well done. Quite honestly, I wasn't sure how effective the movie would be. I've had an interest in Rwanda for a long time. I know all about it, I've read books (one that I couldn't even complete because it disturbed me so much), and I've seen very graphic video footage of what went on there. I didn't really expect the movie to capture what I've felt through years of learning about this...not if it was only PG-13.

I was totally wrong. You don't need the violence to be overly graphic to feel it. The thing that this movie did was put a face on what happened in Rwanda. It made the horror that much more real, seeing it through the eyes of people that it affected. Even though I've been brought to tears in the past by stories of Rwanda, I don't think I've ever felt it quite that personally. It's a great movie, and if you can stand to see it, you should.
