My dreams are getting more and more fucked up every night. They are becoming so vivid that I have to question if they actually really happened or not. I heard that stress makes you dream more..err, or is that sleep more. Whatever is going on, my brain is baked, and apparently, so is wbmTime is getting closer to my high school reunion. I had planned on ( Read more... )

I'm suprised you forget about the interconnectedness of the spirit and the body, the way the brain is really an electrochemical antenna of sorts that sometimes tunes in stray and unwelcome 'signals' ... medication (herbal and pharmeceutical) and mind stretching exercises both affect the brain in real, physical, measurable ways in terms of electrical and biochemical flow, and both approaches are really part of the whole same thing.. it's all relative really... I'm of the belief that a lot of psychological maladies are caused not by physical/medical things, but that certain physical/medical things can allow, invite, and/or facilitate unwelcome presences/, or distort the welcome presences/signals so as to cause psychological disturbances. The tuning mechanism is a very sensitive one, and the analogy of brain/spirit to a radio isn't really congruent, so it's really hard to convey what I'm trying to explain via words... Medicines/herbs have been used for millenia, often in conjunction with meditation or ceremonies to affect peoples connections with the psychic/spiritual world. Perhaps in as mild a case as hers, meditative approaches could surely help. In my case a few years ago, the attacks were so traumatic and severe and frequent that it wasn't an option. I like to believe that many commonly prescribed psychiatric drugs can conceivably be effective because they affect certain brain chemicals which affect the its tuning in the "PKelectomagnetic spectrum" so to speak... The whole area of crystalline structures, electrolytes in the blood in the brain, ionic bonds, etc. all have something to do with this sort of thing. Some say pure salt water in a pure glass container placed in a room is supposed to help repel unwelcome spirits. Quartz and other types of crystals are used for all sorts of purposes, worn on the person or placed in a room or structure. I don't claim to know any of the science behind it (and probably *no one* is really looking into this sort of thing -- the "real" grand unification theory, which unites biochemistry, physics, and the "spirit world", etc. ... hehehehee) OK now I'm totally babbling... but anyway, to put it simplistically, there are really mild commonly prescribed drugs, often derived and distilled and refined from ancient natural sources, which act on the psychic immune system and help fight off the invasive flora and fauna of the spirit world, or maybe as spirit bug repellent, or something else along the same lines. Again, the analogy is incongruent but the concepts arethe same. Of course, a doctor wouldn't say that's what they do or why they work...

I totally understand what you mean about something you've known but not been conscious of. Some things are just built-in to us, and we just have to unlock the information...

Persoanlly I view this physical life as sort of a larval state... Our bodies are just boosters for our spirits... We are meant to exercise our senses and minds which as much dynamics as possible, in order to be as free as possible in the next stage

Haha

Dynaman!!!

Actually, an inherent feel for the principles of dynamics are essential for proper refined enjoyment of anything, sensual or spiritual.

Pain is normally caused by a nerve reaction which kicks in when certain parameters or 'red-zones' are approached or reached, sort of an alrm mechanism that has been incorporated into biological life forms to protect their physical integrity so that they could try and avoid activities that might jeopardize their chances to reproduce effectively. Of course, pain can be induced by harmless things which weren't normally encountered in nature thousands of years ago, or by relatively harmless things which evolved defense mechanisms to cause pain in other creatures to prevent them from being eaten by these other creatures...

But pain can provide a dynamic tension that makes non-painful (or less-painful) states seem more enjoyable. Also, since in our default settings most of our pain reflexes kick in well before we are in danger (a natural built-in safety margin), the dynamic exercise of your ability to endure pain can help build up your pain tolerance by pushing the point the relfex kicks in closer to (or even beyond) the danger zone.

I don't think that everyone needs to deliberately inflict pain upon themselves in order to achieve enlightenment or anything. But the experience of pain can help one develop a more well-rounded sensual spirit. And I think everyone experiences pain without needing to self-inflict... And some people experience unfortunate horrendous unrelenting pain or long, drawn-out bouts of pain from various sources...
