For anyone who hasn't been there and lives in Atlanta, you MUST check out
Great Harvest. Many thanks to ladylilo for telling me about them, before they even had shops here in Atlanta. I am a complete and total bread fiend. The smell of fresh bread makes me swoon. I would even give up chocolate, if I could be guaranteed a steady supply of really good, fresh bread -- that's how much I love it.
They also have branches in
Duluth and
Marietta, and the Duluth one is particuarly good because they also do OMFG good sandwiches. :-) They have different kinds of bread different days, and the schedule changes every month, with new kinds rotating in and out. The top few kinds I've had include Pesto Parmesan, White Chocolate Cherry (or blueberry, or cranberry, or some combination thereof), Cheddar Garlic (swoon), and they have a new one with sun-dried tomatoes, olives and parmesan that I just got today. Really, I have yet to get anything there that I didn't absolutely love. Their breads stay fresh for several days, too, unlike grocery-store french bread or the like, that is petrified after about a day. And if whole grain is your thing, they have a lot of different kinds as well, including some damn fine whole grain cinnamon raisin bread.
They also give you a free slice to try anytime you come in. I had brownie bread today. I walked out with chocolate all over my face and didn't realize it until I got home (after I'd gone shopping...doh...).
Anyway. That's my commercial for the day. Go now. Get bread.
