Dad posted this poem on his facebook on June 13, 2011. He loved his family.
The blessings of a big family
are only seen by a few
A few of the chosen ones
that God has given this blessing too
The blessings are so numerous
it's hard to even start
to number or to name them but
they all hold a place in the heart
The heart of every person in a
big family is unique
it's uniqueness makes us special
and should not be critiqued
The memories that are made
are more precious than gold
from babies to weddings
from young and to old
From grandparents to grandchildren
and everyone in between
the many special relationships that are built
and could have never been foreseen
Thank you God
for my big family I will treasure
through the good times and bad
the memories could not be measured
Thank you God
for birthdays, simple get-togethers and even the tears
for I pray that these blessings
last many, many more years
To have a big family
can be a lot of work, not just play
but life is too short
so I THANK GOD FOR MY BIG FAMILY TODAY!

He was a great man in so very many ways, who seemed to celebrate his life and his blessings and his faith with every breath he took. He was a family man if ever there was one, a man of God, and a man who never minced words or passed up an opportunity to make someone smile. Ryan lived every day with so much joy, with so much love to share, and with had a heart SO BIG, it touched everyone who was blessed with the gift of knowing him.
Ryan was a cousin to me, yes -- but he was also the brother I never had, and especially in the past few years, a great, great friend. He was a teacher and mentor to so many, and his passion for life and God and family was enviable and infectious, to say the very least. He will be sorely missed, but his legacy will live on in the hearts of so many others.
On the other hand, I'll bet by now he's already hugged his mom & joked with his dad, and sampled Grandma's amazing cheesecake once again, and made fishing plans with Grandpa...
Peace be with you, my cousin, my brother, my friend.

Our "big brother" Ryan touched a lot of people's lives, and I'm sad for those who never met him. He had a sparkle and a zest for life that affected anyone in his path. You could not walk away from Ryan without feeling his magnetism, his charm, his kindness and his uplifting spirit. He was a Guru for many, and I will miss him more than words can describe. Thank God he was part of my life for as long as he was. I have learned many, many great things from him, and his soul will forever remain inside of me. I love you from the heavens to the earth and back again, my brother, my mentor, my friend.

We don't know how or compair the loves which we love a person...until...we lost them...And at this moment, I know that...I love him so so much, my father in-law. He (Ryan Scoggins) said: "I love you more than I love you, baby. I am so lucky when I had a daughter in-law likes you..." I missed all things from him because he make me know about the true love from the big heart and warm...
