stopgaps and handclaps

I am in a big rut in terms of music at the moment (and pretty much everything else for that matter, but let's focus on music for the time being). I was just thinking about my plan to treat myself to some new CDs since I haven't been out much lately, and spent ages trawling about amazon to find that really, there doesn't seem to be much new music out that I'm very excited about. I've always had a problem with being stuck in the late 90s or at least discovering I like something well after the rest of the world has because I hate the trendiness of it all but at the moment I'm just so out of the loop with everything. I think it's partly cause I don't have my computer in Leeds, I just use Kitty's (really old rubbishy) laptop so I can't download anything to find new bands I like. I know, how 20th century of me, right? The last CD I bought was Cassadaga (which so far is not doing much for me but admittedly I haven't given much of a chance) and before that I don't even remember. Anyway I was thinking that I haven't been to a gig in quite a while so I was looking through ALL the upcoming gigs and I found something very exciting indeed - TEGAN AND SARA ARE PLAYING IN LEEDS!!! Seetickets just had the Nottingham date up which I was initially excited about anyway cause it's at the little venue where I saw Rilo Kiley and I was close enough to count Jenny Lewis's nose hairs, if Idwas so inclined
Then I looked on the T&S website and they're playing the Cockpit too! So far Kiera and Monica are definately on board (and have promised to join in the handclaps with me) and I've been watching little video clips in celebration all evening.

Which led Mum to asking me I'd seen clips from Radio 1's big weekend thing (I hadn't) and blah blah Gossip blah blah you tube blah blah CSS blah blah random links and silliness led to finding THIS:

Which is the coolest bad karaoke I've ever seen.

I got so bored being in Leeds while everyone worked through the day that I came home. It's kind of boring here too but at least it's not raining ALL THE DAMN TIME, and when I go for walks I don't worry about getting mugged. Or bumping into kids from school (which is basically the same thing).
