early morning music videos or: WTF?!!?

Dec 27, 2006 04:04

Wow, I turned on MTV and they were actually showing music videos! Let's watch...

3:06 - I just viewed the video for My Chemical Romance's "Welcome To The Black Parade". Is this what people are listening to these days? This song is like mixing bad hair metal with bad 90s rock and a little bit of screamo for "good" measure. That and the video is just a weak goth-style interpretation of The Smashing Pumpkins' "Tonight, Tonight" video.

3:11 - I sat through a song by Panic at the Disco with a really long title about girls taking off their clothes or something like that. I honestly can't remember much about it - is it worse to forget a song completely or remember it being really bad?

(commercial break)

3:17 - OK, I've now actually heard (and seen) Fergie and her song "Fergalicious". Again, I ask - is this what people are listening to? If so, I don't miss the radio at all. Maybe Fergie should stick with her day job. And I don't really think she's all that hot... nothing special.

(another commercial break)

3:24 - some video by some group I've never heard of, shiny toy guns. I'd describe the music as really crappy goldfrapp-lite.

(ANOTHER commercial break)

3:32 - Nas is apparently back with a new album and song "Hip Hop Is Dead". It's OK, nothing too memorable but not bad either. Wouldn't bother me to hear it again.

(ANOTHER COMMERICAL BREAK?!?!?!?! This is absurd - there should be 2 vids then commercials. Oh well.)

3:39 - video this round is Nelly Furtado. She looks better than Fergie (to me) but the song is lacking and the video feels a little generic, just people dancing around and various shots of Furtado lip-syncing.

(commercial break - Kevin Smith is acting in some movie called 'catch and release' with Jennifer Garner. I'm sorry, but Mr. Smith isn't supposed to act. Hopefully the character is just like he is so that he won't actually have to.)

3:44 - artist is Vanessa Hudgens. I haven't heard of her before and her song is just more female-vocal pop crap. No one will care about this song in 2 months (assuming they care about it now).

3:49 - Wow, another video! Jim Jones "We Fly High/Reppin' Time". Little more than another "ballin'/20-inch-rims/bitches'n'hos/stacks of benjamins" rap track. Not memorable at all.

(Commercial break - I'm only going to do this until 4am.)

4:00 - The last video is The Killers' "Bones". Enh, it's alright - not offensive to my ears but not memorable either. The horns in the song feel misplaced to me, like they were forced in.

This was kinda fun for me - hope it wasn't boring for you...
