Holy God! Mihailis writes from France:

Jen, I want to discuss the grand questions of life with you, something I have
never really done with anyone before. Geoff and I skimmed the surface on
occasion, but cower away from deeper inquiry. You know, our mortal lives have
wasted away one quarter of their time; innocence, childhood, unbounded
freedom? these have been left at the doorstep, and for the next sixty years,
we will walk down the aisle with mucky shoes, step by slowing step, until we
climb in to the box before the alter for others to gaze upon. What shall we do
along the way, which of the stain-glassed windows shall we admire.
There is not time to study them all: those backed by the rising sun are more radiant, but
those in the shade bear truths unknown. Whichever we choose, let us do it
together, hand in hand, walking the aisle in pace, to confront destiny?

Love,
Mihailis
