Massive Update

Sep 25, 2006 13:00

I know it has been awhile. I don't think I've breathed one time since August 23rd when school started back. It'd be impossible to update you on everything that has happened during the past month, but below is my attempt at letting you know what my life is like these days.

1. I started teaching at a new school. I'm at Ellijay Elementary this semester (hoping to be at Ellijay Primary next semester), and I'm currently in another special ed class. This school is much different than my last school and it was difficult to adjust to. My class consists of mostly MI and MO kids. One child is severely LD, and another is a down syndrome child that shows all the normal DS characteristics, especially being just as stubborn as can be. I will say that this is not my favorite classroom that I have been in, but I am enjoying the challenges that each day presents.

2. I turned in my internship application a couple of weeks ago. I requested to student teach in 2nd grade. Hopefully my request will be granted.

3. Ellijay is an hours drive for me one way, so once I'm done at the school I pretty much go straight to my classes. My classes end at 3:45 on Tues/Thurs and 4:25 on Mon./Wed. Since I have to work at 4:30, I end up going straight to work from classes. I don't get back home to my apartment until between 8:30 and 9:00. My days are so long. I wake up at 5:30 and don't see my apartment again until late in the evening. I am tired constantly!

4. I have a 7-10 day unit to complete and 20 extra lessons to complete. I'm about 1/2 way through my 20 lessons. I am doing at least one lesson a day with my students. It is quite the learning experience.

5. My Level 5 and 6 gymnasts have their first meet next weekend. It should be intresting to see how it goes.

6. Michelle and I are loving living together. Our apartment is perfect, and we love living off campus. It has been nice coming home to someone I actually like living with.

7. During all the school madness, I've been trying to accomplish more wedding planning. We're trying to get all of the major stuff booked by Christmas. So far we've booked the church, reception site, and just last week we booked our photographer. I also bought my dress back in August. We're slowly making progress. If you want to see what we have so far

Our ceremony will be at The Shrine of the Immaculate Conception, a catholic church in downtown Atlanta.

Some more pictures of the inside of the church can be found here (these pictures were taken during Christmas time, but you can see some of the details of the inside).

The reception will be held in The Freight Room at The GA Freight Depot which is just a block from the church. There is only one, small picture here on their website, but I'll try to take some more next time I go.

We booked this husband and wife team as our photographers. We met with Mike and Tracy last week and felt they offered all that we wanted for the right price. Our package is $1998.00 and includes:

Unlimited Coverage with 2 Photographers
DVD of Photos in a special Renaissance Folio Case (Full Reproduction Rights)
500 Proof Images in a Proof Box
Discounts on enlargements and albums
Choice of Bridal or Engagement Sitting
8x12 20 Page GraphiStudio Digital Album

Their albums are amazing, and they may also be giving us a free slideshow (which made my mom cry when we saw one they had made) just because I'm a member of The Knot.

We also loved that Mike and Tracey have had a ton of experience (they did 40 weddings this past year alone) including experience with our venue and know exactly how the day should flow. They have an amazing grasp of the time restrictions and have no problem making sure everyone is where they need to be in order to get all the pictures we want done. I feel very comfortable with them doing our photos for the day. We will be doing an engagement session with them sometime soon. I will post the pictures as soon as I get them.

And finally, my dress.

After showing my mom all the dresses I liked, she agreed this one was the best. The bridal shop we bought it at was having a deal for $100 off any wedding dress in August, so we got a great deal on the dress. I love it so much, and I can't wait until it comes in!

That's about it. I hope everyone is doing well; I've been reading my friends page as I can.
