I went out last night for one of our staff memebers birthdays. I really wasn't in a mood to go out. I was cramping so bad and that was making me nauseous. And on top of that I was just plain homesick. But still I didn't want to sit at my apartment like a bump so I got up, got dressed, and met my friends at Flying Saucer. It was ok at first. We ate some food and had some drinks, just chilled and talked and what not. I walked around some, inside the guys were playing darts so I hung out w/ them for a bit since it was much cooler inside. David, one of the guys who's practically engaged, asked me what was up and I told him I was just in a funk and wasn't sure why. So we talked and eventually I just told him I was homesick for Orlando and people there...and of course my family. We talked for a bit about what and who I meant and then he gave me a hug. I love hugs. Some how hugs just seem to make it all ok. I told him that and he told me "hugs are free, anytime" which was so nice to hear. So then I went outside and I was talking to Shelby and Alan (again new people just like me) you may remmeber that Alan is the Scottish guy. So he figured out I wasn't feeling so hot and he started rapping for me. "Go shorty, it's your birthday......" It was so funny! Seriously if you haven't heard a guy w/ a scottish accent rap you have no idea what you are missing.
So eventually by the end of the evening at Flying Saucer I was somewhat cheered up. I really started to perk up when we decided to go to Banana Joes, a dance club a couple blocks up. So much fun! I was great to have guy friends there to dance with, that would actually dance. And on the same token it's nice to have the guys there cause they look out for us girls, run interferance, and they don't grope when they dance w/ us which is great. So we ended up closing down banana joes around 2 and headed our seperate ways. I played taxi for a couple of my girl friends and came home to walk the dog and go to bed.
And now it's Sunday. I got up and went to church this morning. The sermon was really great, all about how we need to be Kind to everyone, since Kindness is one of the friuts of the spirit listed in Galatians. It was really very good. I'm considering becoming a member of this church since I'll be here a couple years. I'll let you know what I decide. But now I think I'm going to go watch the rest of "Gone with the Wind" and eat some dinner. Catch ya on the flip side!
