I'm a little behind on my reading, so my comment addresses these last two wonderful chapters.

I simply adore your characterizations here. Jack's protectiveness is underscored perfectly with his fear of just what is inside Ianto and the damage it could do. And Ianto's terror and resignation was very palpable and real. You could just feel how upset he was in the previous chapter; and then that is balanced with his reluctant acceptance of his new situation in this chapter. It's really a fantastic portrayal.

I know Jack is a bit of a bastard, but I find it to be completely understandable as to why he must be that way. In canon, we've often seen Jack make the hard choices to balance the good of the many over the good of the few. It's harder though, for us as an audience at least, when he must do that with characters we actually care about. Still, Jack's motivations (his duty, protection of his team, hesitancy when faced with the unknown) are pretty justifiable. You tease out this juxtaposition really well, and make the audience both disappointed in and understanding of Jack.

Fantastic job on this entire story! And I'm really glad to hear that there is more to come in this very intriguing, very compelling 'verse! You've got such an interesting premise, and I'm excited to see where you go next with it! Well done!
