When you come back from battle, when you sheath your self, I am watching. I see you. I see your guarded looks. I see so much sadness underneath. I see you, I feel you, I know you are a lonely satellite.
“What are you lookin’ at, monk?” You shove me away.
Falling fast with no protection.
You do not even hope for it.
Inuyasha, how lonely do we have to stay? How many nights will I sleep alone with you over my head like a star ready to fall? How many nights?
What would you say if I told you I dream of catching you?
What would you do if I did?
What would you do?
I smile instead.
And so you glare at me, Inuyasha. Yes- there is something safe for you in that expression. But then, before the others come, you show me something else.
I see so much when I look in your eyes. Why do you let me see that? Why? Do you want someone you can trust to see this too? All this rage and fear and loneliness? Is it because you see the same thing in my eyes? The same darkness, the same void?
"Inuyasha, I-"
But I hear them coming, and I can feel you move away.
