Burnt out a bit

So, I've been watching the Olympics every single stinking day. And as a result, I haven't gotten to bed before midnight in nearly two weeks. (Except for last Wednesday- after driving 250 miles to my parents' house, and in anticipation of a 3:00 AM alarm, we all opted to save any recordings for the next day.) Last night, I was up until 12:30 AM. It's ridiculous. If it's recorded, why wait until 8:00 PM to start showing it? Why should I have to wait until after 11:00 PM to see the balance beam performances when I was spoiled for the results nearly 12 hours earlier. Yeah, thanks for that, Yahoo! News. Speaking of which, I think someone must have complained, because an hour or so later, the headline was far more ambiguous and I noticed that Yahoo couched the headline for the article on US v. Australia basketball in terms of "Did they win?"

Anyway, I'm tired and cranky. Thus- I am done. I'll wait until the next day to watch the stuff after 10:00 PM. Last week, I told my stylist, "I'm so tired. They keep shoving these cute swimmers into the pool at 11:30 PM. And then you get so charged up by it, it's hard to sleep." After swimming it was seemingly endless nights of gymnastics. I just can't do it any more. Even those charming travelogue pieces by Mary Carillo don't help. (Though the thing on kites and kite fighting was really interesting.) I need sleep. I think I may even skip TV altogether tonight. Just take out the garbage, change into my jammies and hit the hay. I feel like the guy with the bad comb over in that stupid Diet Pepsi Max commercial. I'm about to fall asleep at my desk.

I need caffeine. Now.
