Meant to be completed by those OUT of high school =)
Tired of all of those surveys made up by high school kids?
'Have you ever kissed someone?'
'Missed someone?'
'Told someone you loved them?'
'Drank alcohol?'...
50 questions for the people who are a little older...
1. What bill do you hate paying the most?
I'm going to go with the generic, all-encompassing "credit card bills."
2. Where was the last place you had a romantic dinner?
I can't remember my last romantic dinner. It sucks, but it's true.
3. Do you regret losing your virginity to who you lost it to?
No.
4. If you could go back and change one thing what would it be?
I'd go back and tell my past self to be a better employee. I would have said "I would tell my past self to exercise and not get hooked on junk food," but as weird as it sounds, I suspect that if I had done so, I wouldn't have the life I have now. And my life makes me pretty happy. Besides, as hard as it is to improve a body gone to fat, it's actually harder to rebuild respect (though I'm working on that, too).
5.What do you want to be doing right now?
Playing a game at home.
7. What did you want to be when you were growing up?
Depends on the year. I started high school wanting to be a lawyer. I ended it wanting to be a fashion journalist. Neither one bears any resemblence to my current career.
8. How many colleges did you attend?
Just one, though I enrolled with the intention of transferring to a more prestigious school. Turns out, smaller class sizes and a unique curriculum won out over "prestige."
9. Why did you choose the shirt that you have on right now?
I have a collection of tops that make my jeans look nice enough for work. This week it was navy blue crewneck sweater's turn.
10. What are your thoughts on gas prices?
Don't like 'em. They're outpacing inflation by about 50 cents per gallon. Before the war started, they were about 50 cents under the pace of inflation.
11. If you could move anywhere and take someone with you where would it be?
Northern Michigan, near my parents' place. Either that or a bigger, newer house in my own town. But what's this "take someone with you" thing? Am I kidnapping someone?
12. First thought when the alarm went off this morning?
"Oh, good. The alarm worked today." Either that or "No! No! No! I wanna go back to that weird dream!"
13. Last thought before going to sleep last night?
Probably something about "Kavalier and Clay."
14. Do you miss being a child?
Sometimes. I had a really great childhood. But I wouldn't go back.
16. What errand/chore do you despise?
Cleaning the floors.
17. If you didn't have to work, would you volunteer?
Definitely.
18. Get up early or sleep in?
Sleep in. I only like to get up early on vacation. (Yes, I'm weird.)
19. What is your favorite cartoon character?
Kim Possible.
20. Favorite thing to do at night?
Watch TV, read, cuddle with my cat.
21. Have you found real love yet?
No.
22. When did you first start feeling old?
Well, my knees felt old when I was still in college. And sometimes I feel old when I see kids running around underdressed and overpriveleged. But for the most part, I don't feel old.
24. Your favorite lunch meat?
Roast beef or turkey. (Or roast beef and turkey with aged Swiss and Russian dressing on marble rye.)
25. What do you get every time you go into Wal-Mart?
Act II Butter flavor microwave popcorn. They have the best price on that.
26. Beach or lake?
Lake. Which is good, considering I live in Michigan.
27. Do you think marriage is an outdated ritual?
No.
28. Do you own property?
Yes.
29. Favorite Guilty pleasure?
Movies marketed to teenage girls.
30. Favorite movie you wouldn't want anyone to find out about?
Well, right now I'd have to say "Herbie: Fully Loaded." It was so much funnier and cuter than I expected- especially the demolition derby scene.
31. What's your drink?
Captain Morgan and Diet Coke, I guess. But vodka gimlets are my true love.
32. Cowboys or Indians?
Dude, they don't even play the same sport!
33. Cops or Robbers?
Cops. Robbers suck.
34. Who from high school would you like to run in to?
My friend, Scott, I guess. Of all the people I used to hang out with, he was one of the only people who didn't make it to the band reunion/retirement party two years ago. I also wouldn't mind seeing Dave the quarterback, but only if I also became spontaneously thin and hot. Which means I will probably run into him tomorrow, when I am fat, schlumpy and out buying toilet paper in sloppy jeans and glasses. That's the way my luck works.
35. What radio station is your car radio tuned to right now?
WWJ, Detroit's only all-news station.
36. Norm or Cliff?
Cliff. I often refer to myself as "Clavining." As in, "Well, you know, George III was the first of the Hanoverian kings to be born and raised in England, so he probably wouldn't have a German accent. Oh, sorry. Was I Clavining again?"
37. Grey's or The Office?
The Office, though I do love Grey's.
38. Worst relationship mistake that you wish you could take back?
I wish I'd been a better breaker-upper. On the other hand, I just found out this morning that the man I broke up with badly got married last year and is far happier than I ever made him, so I guess it all works out.
39. Do you like the person that sits directly across from you at work?
There is no across. I do dislike the person in the cube next to me a bit. He's the most noisy and fidgety person I have ever sat next to. The part of the office I sit in seems to be speaker-phone and foot-tapping central, because I get it from all sides.
40. What famous person would you like to have dinner with?
Bob Newhart. I love that guy.
41. Indoors or Outdoors?
Can I say "both"? I love indoor activities like watching TV and movies and playing on the computer, but if I could do them outdoors that would be the best thing ever. As long as there weren't bugs or rain to contend with, anyway.
42. Have you ever crashed your vehicle?
Yes, I have crashed all but two of my vehicles to one degree or another. Even my current vehicle has come a little bit too close to the carport pillars.
43. Have you ever had to use a fire extinguisher for its intended purpose?
No. But I do own one! I got it for Christmas.
44. Last book you read?
The last book I finished was "Song of Susannah" by Stephen King. I was reading "The Dark Tower," but right now I can't bring myself to read the ending again. The last book I listened to was "Jonathan Strange and Mr. Norrell" by Susannah Clarke, and the book I am currently reading is Michael Chabon's "The Amazing Adventures of Kavalier and Clay." I'm about 3/4 finished.
45. Do you have a teddy bear?
Not a bear, but a 32 year old stuffed lion.
46. Strangest place you have ever brushed your teeth
The office bathroom. Not all that strange.
47. Somewhere in California you've never been and would like to go?
I have to agree with Bill on this: Disneyland. It seems unfair that I haven't been yet.
48. Do you go to church?
Yes, semi-regularly.
49. At this point in your life would you rather start a new career or a new relationship?
A new relationship. I'm pretty comfortable in my career.
50. How old are you?
36.9
