(no subject)
Hello again! It's been so long. I just have not been in the mood for journaling for some reason. Ah, well, I'm back. Did ya miss me? :)
Julie's visit over Memorial Day was awesome. We had a great time, mostly just talking (and shopping). We're so good at both. It was great to have her here and to just hang out and relax together. It was also wonderful to see Jeanne again. I can't believe she and I had gone so long b/w visits! Becca is sprouting, as is Korry, and they both look terrific.
Since then we haven't had a lot going on. Work has been steady - stuff to do, but plenty of downtime. Our evenings have been mild. I've gone to the gym with Seth a few times, spent a couple of evenings just vegging out in front of the t.v., done some chores around the house, etc. Weekends have been a mix. The weekend before last we went to Long Island and spent Saturday afternoon with my aunt and uncle and cousins. I taught the 19-month-old twins how to say Porsche and Corvette, which delighted Seth. :oP Then we went to a friend's new house and had dinner there with him and his fiancee. This weekend we just ran errands and did chores. We've been seeing a lot of movies lately. There are so many new ones out that we wanted to see, so we've seen MI:3, Poseidon, X-Men 3, The Da Vinci Code, and then Julie and I saw Over the Hedge also (But I like the cookie!).
We've done some minor stuff to the house, but not a lot yet. I did some more weeding last weekend, but have so much more to go. I've been waffling b/w trying to salvage some of the prettier flowering plants that have bloomed in our front yard, or just yanking everything out and starting totally fresh. I think that's what I'll end up doing, just b/c it would be double the work to try and unplant the good stuff, replant it in planters, then re-replant it in the ground once it's ready for that. As much as I'd hate to just throw away some beautiful plants, I just think if I ever want to get the front yard done, that's what I'll have to do. Otherwise, I'll keep putting it off forever!
We finally got our new sofas over Memorial Day and they are great. I love the color and fabric. Very happy with them. We still haven't put the new rug down, but I want to do that this week. And our new tables should be delivered sometime in the next 2 weeks. That's it then. Other than a new slipcover for the old loveseat, now in the den, no more furnishings purchases! We'll start decorating with pictures and photos and paintings we already own and will gather new things bit by bit.
My folks arrive today for a 2-week visit, which will be really nice. I'm going to leave work right at 5 as long as they're here so I can spend as much time as possible with them. And if things continue to be quiet in the office, I'll probably ask to take the next 2 Fridays off. It will be good to have full days to get house stuff done with them. There's only so much you can do b/w 6-10 pm and our weekends are already full, so we need some big chunks of time to work!
No news on the new job yet. I last heard from them 2 1/2 weeks ago and they told me that they had been involved in a couple of big deals but those were done and they hoped to refocus on the attorney search soon. Whatever. I'm still okay in my job here, so no rush. I can wait, but it would just be nice to know already!
