....I don't have a title... but it's a new fic

I don't have a title for this.. so if you can come up with something it'd be greatly appreciated. Please let me know what you think... I was rather bored today at work. Constructive criticism is good!
Post Season 1- there are some differenes: Michael never attempted to steal the key.. therefore Sara was never mad at him. The only people who are outside the walls are Michael, Lincoln and Sucre.

As Sara walked out of the Fox River front gate she took once last glance back at the infirmary and wondered if she did the right thing. She took a deep breath and walked to her car. Twenty minutes later she had grabbed some Chinese food and sat on her couch in an attempt to get her mind off what she had done. Sara turned on the tv and quickly flipped past the news channels. The less she knew the better, she thought. After searching through the channels, she settled on the movie The Fugitive.  She almost laughed out loud at the irony.  After watching for a few minutes she gave up on the movie, grabbed a magazine and headed to bed. She barely got through the first article before her eyes closed and the magazine fell down.
***
Michael found the door unlocked and breathed a sigh of relief. He made a mental note to thank Sara when he got a chance. He walked over to the window and found a folded piece of paper on the windowsil. He unfolded it to find "You're Welcome." scribbled in the center of the page. No signature, but he didn't need one, he'd seen the writing everyday in this very room. Michael quickly pocketed the paper and went back to the plan.
Twenty minutes later everyone was across the wire and went in their own directions.
Lincoln turned to Michael and asked, "Now what?"
"We have one stop to make on the way to Utah." Michael replied digging up a bag of clothes he'd stashed months before he entered Fox River.
"Where?" Lincoln asked as he took a shirt and coat from Michael.
"You'll see." Michael replied getting dressed quickly.
***
They arrived at their destination a half an hour later and Lincoln picked the lock. Michael entered the apartment first quickly taking in the room, very nicely decorated and just a hint of clutter which made him smile. The brothers immediatly stopped in their tracks when they heard a voice. Michael walked farther into the room and pointed down the hallway to the right. They couldn't quite make out what was being said but they both knew who it was.  Michael stepped quietly down the hall till he reached the open door at the end. The voice got louder and now they could clearly makeout what was being said.
"This isn't right....  Not here..... Not in this place.. We have to go .... Michael we have to go."
The two brothers looked at eachother, surprised to say the least.
"Uh, I'll just wait out here." Lincoln motioned back to the living room.
Michael nodded to his brother and stepped into the room. He found Sara asleep holding a magazine. He walked quietly over to the bed, picked up the magazine and gently laid it on the nightstand. Michael couldn't help but stare at Sara, she looked so peaceful. He gently sat on the edge of the bed and held her hand.
Sara felt the bed move and instantly woke up.
"Michael?"
Michael had his eyes closed and jumped slightly when she spoke.
"I didn't mean to scare you," he whispered, "I just ... uh.. I wanted to think you for what you did. You saved Lincoln's life."
Sara moved to sit up in bed, "I became a doctor for a reason Michael, I couldn't let an innocent man die." She stopped talking and looked down, "Where is Lincoln?"
"He's in the living room. We heard you talking and he waited out there." Michael explained.
"Talking?"
"Yeah... you must have been talking in your sleep."
Sara closed her eyes for a second, remembering her dream, "I was dreaming..."
"About what?" Michael asked with a small smile.
Sara opened her eyes, her cheeks flushing, "You."
"Me?"
Sara looked down at her hands, "Yeah, well us actually." She slowly brought her eyes up to meet his.
Michael reached out and touched her cheek with his thumb, "Sara.. you remember how I said it wouldn't always be like this? In that place?"
Sara nodded, remembering that day in the infirmary.
Michael smiled knowing what she was thinking about. The one kiss they shared. "I do believe we're not in that room anymore..."
Sara chuckled, "No, we're definately not."  She couldn't believe he was here, in her bedroom. Even better yet he was telling her what she never thought she'd hear from him.
Michael took Sara's hand in his. "I have a plan."
"Another one?" she joked.
"Yes," he brought her hand up and kissed the back of it, "And there's room for one more... if you're interested."
"So let me get this straight, you want me to run off into the sunset with two escaped inmates?" she asked.
"Well, at this rate it will be sunrise." he replied. Sara smiled and Michael leaned in to kiss her.
"I don't want to break up the party, but we need to get going Michael." they heard from the living room.
Michael stood and took Sara's hand to lead her into the living room. "Do you trust me?" he asked.
"Yeah, I do."
Michael smiled, realizing how special that moment was.  After all he did she still trusted him.
"Come with me." he said as he lead her out into the living room.
"Doc." Lincoln said as they emerged from the hall.
"Lincoln." Sara said.
"Ok, here's the plan.." Michael started.
"Uh, Bro..." Lincoln motioned towards Sara.
"It's ok," he paused and takes Sara's hand.
"I spoke with your lawyers Lincoln, I would have never done what I did if I didn't know you were innocent." Sara said.
Michael turned to her, "You realize this changes everything?"
"I think eveything changed when I left that door open Michael."
"She's right Bro." Lincoln injected.
"I just want to make sure you know what you're getting youself into... nothing is going to be the same after this." Michael explained.
Sara looked between the two brothers, "I don't know everything, but I know enough to know this is right."
Lincoln walked over to her and gave her a quick hug, "That means a lot Doc."
"I think you can call me Sara now Lincoln." she said as they pulled apart from their hug.
"Sure thing." he said as they all sat down.
"Ok, here's what we're going to do..." Michael turned towards Sara, "You're going to go on like nromal, go to work tomorrow. There will probably be a lot of questions, you tell them you heard about your dad and that he lost the nomination and you were upset. You forgot to lock the door."
Sara nodded and then added, "I left my coat there yesterday."
"Even better yet, it will help to make you look forgetful."
"Ok, what are we going to do Michael?" Lincoln asked impatiently.
"We head to Utah."
"Utah? What are you going to Utah for?" Sara asked.
"Ever hear of D.B. Cooper?" Michael asked.
"Yeah..."
"You probably know him better than you think." Michael hinted.
Sara looked from Michael to Lincoln to see if he knew what Michael was referring to. The look on Lincolns face didn't give anything away.
"Charles Westmoreland." Michael revealed.
Sara's jaw dropped, "Really?"
"Yeah, he was coming with us tonight, but he didn't make it." Michael explained with a hint of sadness in his voice.
"Coming with you? It wasn't just the two of you?" Sara asked surprised.
Lincoln remained quiet, not sure how much Michael was willing to tell her.
Michael took a deep breath and explaind, "I knew when I walked into Fox River it could never be just Lincoln and me. My cellmate would have to be in on it."
"Fernando Sucre?" Sara asked.
"To start. After that we were going to need a way out of the area. John Abruzzi was going to have a plane for us but.." Michael trailed off.
Sara sensed Michael blamed himsef for what happend to Abruzzi, "He's going to be ok Michael. I heard from the hospital today."
"And then there was T-bag." Michael said.
"T-bag? I let T-bag out?" Sara almost screamed.
Michael was quick to answer, "NO! We left him in the pipes below the guard shack."
Lincoln knew Michael blamed himself for letting such people in on the plan and wanted to get Michael to think about something else, "Ok, can we get back to our plan?"
"Right. When we got outside Fox River, Sucre went one way and we went the other. Before we left Charles told me were the money is." Michael explained.
"Utah" Sara said.
"Exactly." Michael said, "The only problem is T-bag heard. So as soon as they find him.."
"He'll tell them right where you're headed." Sara finished.
"Bingo" Lincoln piped up.
"So all we need to do is get there before anyone else." Sara thought outloud.
"That's easier said than done. We can't go get on a plane... we have to travel when it's dark, places people won't see us... we have to be invisible." Michael thought outloud.
"I could go." Sara suggested.
"No. Out of the question." Michael answered.
"It's not a good idea Sara" Lincon chimed in quickly.
"We need to go before it's too light" Michael said looking out the window behind him.
"Ok, you go, I go to work. What then?" Sara asked.
"We go, get the money. Part of it goes to Charles' daughter. Then we go on with the original plan." Michael looked at Sara.
"Oh." she replied looking down.
"That's where we alter it a little bit" Michael started but Sara cut him off.
"Michael you don't have to do that." Sara explained, thinking he didn't want her to go with them.
As if Licoln wasn't there Michael took both of her hands in his and looked deep into her eyes, "I want you to."
Lincoln felt like he was intruding on their private moment and looked over to the large bookcase in the living room. Anything to keep him occupied and not staring at his little brother and his 'sorta girlfriend'.
Just as Michael and Sara were about to kiss Lincoln clearned his throat, "Sorry to break it up, but we really need to go."
"Uh, yeah" Michael stuttered, "Right, so we go, get the money and head to Panama."
"Panama?"
"Yes. We'll get there on a freighter. You tell Pope that you need some time off to deal with family matters." Michael explained.
"When will you be there? When should I get there? How..." Sara started rattling off questions.
"Yeah, how is she going to know when or where to go?" Lincoln chimed in.
"It depends how long it takes us to get to Utah and find the money." Michael explained to the two, "Sara, you'll get a call from one of us. Then you have two days to get to Panama City." Michael grabbed a piece of paper and wrote something down. "When you get there, go to this store and ask the woman behind the counter for Christina Rose."
"Mom?" Lincoln looked surprised.
"Not quite." Michael replied with a smile.
"I'll have a bag packed." Sara said as they stood up.
Lincoln started towards the door and turned to ask, "Is she going to be ok here?"
"I've been working that out," Michael started, "No one knows what she did, she'll be fine."
"Uh... why wouldn't I be fine?" Sara started to get curious.
"I was set up." Lincoln told her. "And it goes a little higher than the guy I supposedly killed."
"So you're saying it's a cover up?" Sara asked.
"That's something else we're working on." Michael explained. "Hopefully that will be all taken care of by the time we're sitting on the beach."
"Ok. So I'll hear from you soon." She said walking them to the door.
"You will." Michael replied pulling her into a hug. He placed a soft kiss on her hair. "Now lock the door behind us and get some sleep."
"Be careful guys." she said taking a step back and then one towards Lincoln. Sara quickly hugged him and whispered "Take good care of him."
"Don't worry, I got him covered." Linc replied as he walked out of the apartment.
"Be careful Michael." she said as he reached for her hand and lifted it up to his lips. With a quick kiss and a wink he was out the door.
***
Sara entered the infirmary the following day to find chaos. There were guards and cops walking about, each doing a double take at her. Sara walked into her office to find Warden Pope and Nurse Katie. "What's going on?" Sara asked when the two looked up at her.
"Doctor. I'm glad you're here." the Warden said, "Please have a seat."
Sara looked back towards the door to see at two guards waiting in the hallway.
"Henry, what happened?" Sara asked again as she sat down in the only empty chair.
"Surely you heard there's been an escape." He replied looking at her carefully.
"No!  When? Why is everyone in the infirmary?..... Oh my God, did it happen here?" Sara started to make sense of what was going on around her.
"They went out through the window in your exam room." Henry explained. "Katie here tells me you were the last one to leave last night."
Katie looked over at Sara with a look of regret, "When I left your car was still in the parking lot."
"I did stay late last night because I ran out in the afternoon. I heard that my fathers  vice president nomination was withdrawn. I tried to visit him but he wasn't at home or at his office. I came back but couldn't concentrate on my paperwork so I left." Sara looked down at her hands twisting in her lap.
"Sara, this is very important. Did you lock the door to the exam room when you left?" Warden Pope asked.
Sara looked up at him and then to Katie. "Uh... I'm not sure.... I mean ... I would think I did... I really don't know. I'm sorry." she stuttered.
The warden looked past her to the door and shook his head no. The two guards left their post and the Warden turned back to Sara and Katie. "There will be no charges, but there will be an investigation in the infirmary. And you will both be reprimanded."
The girls nodded and stood as the warden left the office.
"Katie, I'm so sorry." Sara said as she turned towards her friend.
"Girl, it's not your fault. These things happen." Katie replied touching Sara's arm, "Did you ever get a hold of your dad?"
"No, I never heard back from him...  I got home I ate and pretty much fell asleep." Sara explained leaving out her surprise visitors. The two walked out of the office and surveyed the infirmary.
"Well it doesn't look like we'll be getting much done around here today, why don't we finish that paperwork and then head out to get lunch?" Katie asked.
"That sounds great. I'm gonna try again to get a hold my dad and then I'll attack that stack of files." Sara replied walking back into her office.
Three hours and a stack of files later Sara emerged from her office to find the warden in her exam room. "Sir, is there anything I can do for you?" Sara asked entering the room.
"No, just taking a look around." he replied staring out the window at the wires leading across the wall.
"Katie and I were going to grab some lunch, do you want us to get you anything?" Sara asked.
"No thanks, but I'd like to see you and Katie in my office before you go." he replied tearing his attention from the window.
"Sure."
Sara found Katie in her office and they headed to the wardens office.
"Why do I feel like I'm going to the principals' office?" Katie joked.
"Prolly cuz we're going to get in trouble... Katie I'm really sorry.. I didn't mean..." Sara tried to explain.
"Would you shut up?" Katie joked, "It's not your fault."
"But I'm not sure I locked the door" Sara replied.
"I'm to blame too.. when I saw your car here that late I should have checked to see if you needed any help." Katie looked down. "I should have been a better friend."
"You're a great friend!" Sara replied knocking on the wardens door.
They heard him yell 'come in' from the other side of the door. Sara took a deep breath to compose herself and opened the door.
"Ladies, please have a seat." Henry said as they entered the room.
Sara and Katie sat down across from Henry.
"We've looked into it, and there's no indication that the lock to the exam room was picked." Henry began but paused as Sara lowered her head, "While that is of concern, what concerns me more is how three men were able to get to the infirmary unnoticed."
Sara looked back up and then to Katie.
"I've decided not to file charges, but I'm going to put the two of you on administrative leave, for two weeks." he continued. "During that time you should think about what happened."
It really felt like they were in the principals office now. Henry went on for a while before both ladies zoned out completely.  Before they knew it the meeting was over and they were on their way out the door.
"You still wanna get lunch?" Katie asked.
"Nah... at this point I want to go home and go back to bed." Sara replied.
"Ok, but promise me you'll give me a call this week and we'll do something?" Katie proded.
"Sure" Sara said grabbing her coat and locking her office door.
***
Sara never was one to sit back and relax. It had been three days since the escape and still no word from Lincoln or Michael and she started to get worried. After she packed her bag to be taken to Panama she cleaned her apartment top to bottom, read three books, and alphabetized her dvd collection. She had just returned from lunch with Katie to find her mail on her doorstep. Flipping through the bills and junk she entered her apartment and set her purse down. Sara flopped down on the couch and looked over at her answering machine. In an instant she flew over and hit the red blinking button.
"Hey. I heard you're going on vacation. Hope you enjoy your trip."
"Thank God!" Sara let out a breath she didn't realize she was holding and headed over to her computer. She searched several flights to Panama City and booked one that left the next day.
***
Sara slept through most of the flight. When she woke, the movie was already over and the flight attendant came up to her. "You slept through the beverage service, would you like anything?"
"How long till we land?" Sara asked wondering how long she was asleep.
"About a half an hour." the woman replied.
"Oh, wow... Uh no, thank you." Sara stuttered realizing she was going to be with Michael sooner than she imagined. A million thoughts were running through her head. She was finally getting her happily ever after.. granted it was in a foreign country where she didn't speak the language very well.. but he was going to be there. That's all she needed to know.
When the plane touched down she she grabbed her luggage and hailed a cab. Sara grabbed the piece of paper Michael had given her and read the name of the market to the driver. Twenty minutes later she was standing outside a small store in a nicer section of town. Sara entered the store and walked up to the woman at the counter. She was older, her eyes showed she lived life fully and she wore a large smile when Sara asked about Christina Rose.
The woman pulled a map out from behind the counter. "Here is where you will find her... and them." she said pointing to an area along the coast.
"Thank you." Sara smiled and headed back out to find another cab.
Sara watched as the countryside wizzed by on her way towards the beach. She had given the driver a location about a mile from where the shopkeeper pointed in an attempt to hide where she was really going. When the car pulled over near a hotel she paid the man and got out. After the cab drove way she started towards the beach. She stepped onto the white sand and looked in both directions. She knew she should head north but it didn't look like there was anything up that way. She pulled her suitcase down to the water and took her sandals off so she could dip her feet in the water. The color of the water reminded her of Michaels eyes and she was quickly bruoght back to the task at hand. She put her sandals in the suitcase and headed up the beach. A good half an hour later she finally spotted something. When she got closer she could see a boat with a dock leading up to it.  Sara started wondering if she was what she was looking for.. but there didn't seem to be anyting else in the area and she was exactly where the shopkeeper had pointed to on the map. Grabbing her suitcase she headed out the dock towards the boat. The boat in front of her was large, and looked brand new.  Sara was about halfway to the boat when she heard someone behind her, "You're just in time!"
Sara whipped around to find Michael and Lincoln walking up to the dock. Relief sweeped over her as she took in the sight in front of her. Lincoln and Michael were dressed in shorts and t-shirts, they looked just like they were on vacation and were going sailing for the day. Michael pulled her into a hug and she gladly hugged back. "I am so glad to find you guys. I thought I'd be walking along the beach forever."she let go of Michael and hugged Lincoln, "Wait.. what am I just in time for?"
"Linc's gonna make dinner, and I was gonna go for a swim, wanna come?" Michael asked grabbing her suitcase and heading towards the Christina Rose.
"Uh.. I hate to break up the fun.. but shouldn't you guys be hiding... where people can't see you?" Sara asked as she and Lincoln followed Michael.
"Didn't you hear?" Lincoln asked, "I'm a free man"
"What?!" Sara exclaimed.
"Yeah, happened today." he said, "My lawyer Veronica got it all straightened out, apparently your dad had proof that I was innocent."
"Wait.. my dad?" Sara asked.
"Yeah, it's all over the news." Michael said helping her onto the boat deck.
"My flight was really early, I didn't even look at the paper." she said. "So you're free?"
"I am." Lincoln replied, "But my genius brother here still robbed a bank."
"Not to mention you broke out of prison." Sara added.
"Yeah.. well that's nothing in the scheme of things." Michael replied, "Linc's alive, that was my goal."
"Ok, so what's your plan now?" Sara asked, hoping to hear that they had a solution to the fugitive status they currently held.
"Swimming and dinner." Michael replied taking her suitcase below deck. Sara followed him into a room at the front of the boat. "This is my room.. but you can have it. I've been sleeping on the deck under the stars."
"Michael... " Sara started but couldn't finish when she looked into his hazel eyes.
"Sara... I don't want to think about the real world. I want to think about now, this paradise with the two people I love most in the world." Sara was taken back..  she never expected to hear a confession like that.  "I don't know what we are Sara, but I'd like to find out." he continued taking her hands in his.
A small smile crept up her face, "I'd like that." Michael leaned down and kissed her lightly.
"Now get into your bathing suit and join me for a swim." he whispered into her ear as he pulled her into a tight hug.
***
"Mmmmm... Lincoln... this is so good." Sara said the second the fish hit her tongue. "Seriously, where did you learn to cook?"
"Linc used to make dinner when Mom got sick." Michael explained. "But she's right Linc... you never made anything this good."
"I had a lot of extra time on my hands the past couple of years" he said, "I read a lot."
"You read cookbooks in prison?" Michael asked after swallowing his food.
"Geez guys.. why's it so hard to believe?" Linc joked, knowing full well what his reputation was in prison.
"Linc the Sink... America's next top chef!" Sara kidded. All three of them burst into laugher at the thought.
By the time the plates were cleared and the food cleaned up it was dark and the stars were out. Lincoln brought up a couple of beers from the galley and passed them around. The three of them sat on the deck looking out at the moon and the water. After a few minutes Lincoln spoke up, "I wanted to thank you two. Without you I wouldn't be here right now."
Michael set his beer down and hugged his brother. No words had to be said between the brothers to understand what they were feeling. They had nothing without eachother.
Lincoln then hugged Sara. "Thank you Doc.. you not only helped me, but I see what you mean to my brother and I've never seen him this happy" he whispered into her ear.
Sara didn't know what to say so she simply smiled and put her hand on his arm.
"Well... I'm gonna head down to bed. You two behave up here." Lincoln said grabbing his beer and stumbling down the stairs.
"He never was very descreet" Michael joked as they sat back down on the deck.
"Eh, that's what family is for." Sara said.
Michael laid back on the deck so he could look straight up at the stars. Sara watched him for a minute taking in everything about him from his eyes to the soft smile he had on his face when he pointed out a shooting star. He moved over a little bit so she had room to lay down next to him.  Sara layed down next to him and shivered.
"Are you cold?" he asked.
"Just got a chill." she replied as he wrapped his arm around her to pull her closer to him.
"I'm so glad you came." he said tilting his head back so he could look into her eyes.
"Me too." she said. She paued... "I have a confession to make."
"What's that?" he asked.
"I don't want this to end. I love being here with you... and Lincoln. It just feels right." she admitted.
Michael rolled onto his side so he was facing her. "We don't have to go back you know. We can stay here as long as we want."
Sara rolled to face him. "What about work? What about being a fugitive?"
"There's a reason I picked Panama... no extradition laws."
"What about jobs? We're going to need money eventually." she countered.
"We dug up a large backpack with about 4 million in Utah." Michael explained.
"You really did think of everything didn't you?" Sara asked.
"Just about." he said with a smile on his face.
"What did you forget?" she asked.
"Not that I forgot.. but I wish we had a boat with a little more privacy." he said as he leaned in and kissed the love of his life.

Ok so there ya go... lemme know what you think... especially a title!
