I did what?!

Perhaps this blog should be renamed as "One Million and One Adventures With Jen".

Monday night at about 5:30 I received a call from Ms. jennyvbrown asking if I would be willing to fly to San Jose to help her fly her twins home. Long story as to why, but I was all for it! I took off to the airport, arriving just 45 minutes before the flight was to leave. After some stressful issues with the tickets I received my boarding pass just about 20 minutes before take off. The ticket agent handed me my pass and said, "You better run for it." haha. I made it though, with about 5 minutes left before they shut the door. Bonus: I wasn't even the last one to board.

I flew into Oakland and rented a car to drive down to the hotel in San Jose where they were staying. Tuesday morning Jenny and I took the boys to breakfast then ventured into one of the greatest cities of all time, San Francisco of course! We drove down to Fisherman's Wharf, parked the car, and then bought tickets for a bay cruise. It was freezing so we grabbed jackets for the boys and headed out onto the water. The cloud cover was still pretty low, so we could only just see the bottom of the Golden Gate Bridge, but we did get to circle Alcatraz island and see the sea lions.

After our little cruise we got back in the car and headed down to the end of the wharf. We couldn't get all the way to Ghirardelli Square due to construction. So instead, we went the only way we could go, which was UP! Up Hyde Street that is.

We even got to drive behind the cable car all the way up. I have never driven in SF, only ever walked and used public transportation, so driving up those crazy hills was quite the adventure! After we reached the top of that hill we drove through the city and headed over to the Golden Gate Bridge look out point. By then the clouds had lifted so we could actually see it.

After that we took a rather confusing circular route in order to get back on the highway going the opposite direction without having to cross the bridge. We ended up on Lombard Street, which is another of those insanely crazy hills and ends with the most fantastic thing ever:

Now I have been to SF a few times and I have seen this street from the bottom, but I have never driven down it. I have always wanted to, so we did! It was seriously so exciting to me to say I drove down the crooked street in San Francisco! I can now cross that off my list of things to do before I die :) After that we headed back through the city and to the Bay Bridge so we could get back to the Oakland airport and fly home. I snapped this picture with my cell phone through the windshield. Not too shabby eh?

It was such a fun day! Exhausting, but fun! I would do it again in a heartbeat!

*Sadly my real camera battery was basically dead, so only worked long enough for me to snap the ones of the bridge.
