Okay, so I'm kind of a comics nerd, once in a while, and I've been a huge fan of Warren Ellis for ages and ages and ages, and Transmetropolitan is probably my all time number 1 series. Ever. Right now, though, I'm reading my way through The Authority, which is an older series I've finally gotten around to, and it's making me squee left right and center, no kidding.

The premise is that there's this bunch of superheroes, some of whom seem to be coming out of mini-retirement, who are called in to save the world (sometimes from itself), and wackiness ensues. There was another series, called Stormwatch, that set up most of the characters, but I haven't read it yet, but the exposition in The Authority is good enough that I haven't needed to go back.  Even though I'm going to, as soon as it comes in the mail.  But anyway....

It's hilarious and badass and brutal and snarky and wonderful, and I like all the main characters, and I could go on at length, here, but ...

Today's squeeage comes from the end of the first volume

(and d'awww, the fact that Midnighter had a suit made up in white for the event just makes me giggle like mad)

Okay, seriously, how often in comics do you see two of the *main characters*, who are both these total badass, slightly murderous superhero guys in an established relationship/ getting married/ adopting the reincarnation of their old boss together?  And yeah, the entire story isn't just about their relationship, not by a longshot, but the series is far more of an action series than it is a romance series.

For those of you who are interested, here's what wikipedia has to say.

That is all
