There is a woman on Etsy who makes beautiful handmade clothing for babies and toddlers. I was just going to post about how fabulous and affordable her handmade clothes are and how nice she is. i was going to recommend her to other parents of toddlers, because her stuff is great!
I went to her Etsy shop to get the exact URL, and found out that she can no longer make clothes for children under 12. There is a new law that is intended to keep children from getting lead poisoning which requires all manufacturers of things for children under 12 to do extensive (and expensive!) testing. This has effectively put people who work out of their homes making clothing for small children out of business.
The woman I am talking about has a blog, where she talks about what is going on She has several relevant links to information about these guidelines and what that means for people like her and for the general consumer. She also has a link to a petition.
