So, I am seriously thinking about going veggie. I LOVE meat! So why am I thinking about it? I have a few reasons. The first is the cost of meat. It is getting really expensive. I will not get unemployment for forever and I think making sure Aiden gets food and diapers is much more important than my cheeseburger addiction.
The second the reason is health. I was thin for almost ten years before having Aiden and I didn't work out. Most of what I eat is meat and it is almost all unhealthy! Yes, I could just eat lean meat, but that just opens more room for temptation. I have never been good with temptation! I will tell myself that I will get the grilled chicken from Wendy's. Yeah...ok...it will almost always end up being a single with cheese and large fries!
The third reason is now that I have Aiden I am more concerned about the future of this planet. It takes far more resources to produce meat for consumption. This is try on land and in the seas. Smaller fish are being over fished in order to feed the farmed fish. Food that could be consumed by humans is given to animals. They take in a lot more than they give back. Not to mention issues with bird flu, swine flu, mad cow, hoof and mouth...
I honestly think that it is the right thing to do, but it would be much easier not to. My family eats meat and so does Rod. I really like meat. I love fried chicken, cheeseburgers, hot dogs, bacon, sausage, med rare steak, prime rib, eggs benedict....hmm. From that list I can see why I still have all the baby weight! lmao.
The good news is that I can always try it for awhile. If it doesn't work for me I can always go back. Before I can start I really do need to get rid of (meaning eat) all the meat in the house. It would not take long before I went totally nuts and ate 5 hot pockets in one day! So, I think I am going to start with only one meat based meal a day until all the food is gone. This will also give me the chance to learn a new cooking style and stocking my pantry for a veggie diet.
It's worth a shot...
