Upheaval Episode 1: Living Space

May 25, 2011 19:16

So, in my slow, painful spinning out of the brainmeats for review, one thing that has to change regardless of what I do in the near future is living space. Mine is huge and not utilized to its full potential and, though priced very well for location and just how damn much apartment I have, more expensive than I want to be paying alone. So I am exploring two options: One, finding a much smaller and cheaper place, or two, locating a roommate I can live with.

I haven't done Serious Searching(tm) for either yet, this is still the very early stages. I have a tendency to get impatient and move fast once I settle on a given course of action, and I'm not in a position to do that right this minute, focus has been on brain rather than all the crap that goes into a potential move.

So this is a first, light cast of the net... do I have any friends or vouched-for friends-of-friends looking for a room whose criteria allows for a (talkative) cat in the house who may not get along with other animals (it's unknown, there was this demon-cat territorial rage issue at one point...), a quiet building on a quiet street in Fremont, a moderately cluttered but fairly domestically inclined artist-gamer roommate who already has their stuff everywhere, and a reliable rent-and-utilities budget of ~900$ a month?

I don't want to just jump straight into getting rid of half of my stuff and downsizing to a smaller place before checking to see if my current situation (empty second bedroom and second bathroom, nice location with friendly and fairly hands-off building management, garage parking that I'm sure as hell not using) puzzle-locked well into someone else's.

Friends are free to share this with people they'd personally vouch as trustworthy and reasonable living-space sharers, but I don't plan to do a cattle call. This is my home, my haven and my sanctuary against a hostile world, I'm very picky about who I let cross the threshold.
