Fallout 3 is ruining my study focus. Also, Halloween is coming up.
Retrocrush rarely fails to deliver some amusing social interplay, but their Worst Retro Halloween Costumes list had me hanging off my lab stool laughing this morning. Especially since I'm old enough to actually get most of the references.
Who wants to be Scott Baio?
Take this Father Murphy costume for example. I suppose you could have drawn a swastika on the forehead and passed yourself off as Charles Manson, but being that nobody under 60 years of age even watched this show, it makes you wonder what kid actually asked to be this. Only slightly more popular than the Colonel Potter from M*A*S*H* costume.

Sure, the Sweat Hogs were all fairly popular in their day, but to think some poor 7 year old kid was wandering the streets dressed up as Gabe Kaplan is a crying shame. If you were really cool, you could wear the mask with a basketball uniform and go as Gabe Kaplan from FASTBREAK, or just go naked with it as Ron Jeremy.
and last (but certainly not least)
I suspect that "Mommy I want to be Atari's Asteroids Game for Halloween" was only slightly less creepy for parents to hear than, "Mommy, I just chopped up Fido with a shovel and had sex with his face!" Kids who couldn't afford this one had to settle for being Intellivision's "Astroblast" game, instead.
Who is dressing up in costume this year? And if so, what are you going as?
Me? I usually don't tell before the actual holiday, but I'm so excited about the originality and coolness of my costume that I had to share. Bonus points if you know who she is:
Man. I need to study; I have an ochem exam on Friday. And a billion other things to do for work. At least secondaries are done, and I can go back to worrying about how many rejection letters will fill my mailbox in the coming months (although, secretly, I'm also hoping for interviews. But it's best not to sound too optimistic, lest the adcom gods hear me).
Speaking of which, did you know there's an entire book about rejection letters???
Wonder if there are any med school ones in there.
