BSG - series finale
1. The Battle
I totally dug that we got an epic battle. It was gorgeous. It was nice and long. I loved seeing the "red" cylons fighting along with Lee and the others - that was one of my favorite parts. I loved that we got to get into the fight within the first 10 mins of the episode. My heart was racing so much I could barely stand it when Galactica jumped in and immediately was withstanding that terrible gun attack. Oh she breaks my heart, that ship does. I loved seeing a dying Racetrack get one last great shot in on the Colony. I cried out when Helo got shot in the back carrying his daughter. I honestly thought he was a gonner for good. Yes I was weeping. That last jump to earth with Galactica's spine breaking was one of the most fantastic and scary shots I've seen. Again - she breaks my heart. Adama kicking butt in the CIC and taking names. LOVED seeing Kara on the assault team with Helo and Athena. She and Helo go way back [and with Boomer I guess] and it was good to see her not fighting with Lee. I forgot earlier to mention my love and weepiness for Laura's goodbye with Cottle. I have LOVED Cottle all along. Bless him.
2. Mythology & Questions/Answers
The Opera House vision - explained! OH what a beautiful piece of continuity that was! For all of the characters. Boomer finally making the "right" damned choice. Her flashback that she owed The Old Man one. Good on her. And? Athena shooting her. Circle closed. When the Final Five were giving the Resurrection Technology and Tory's secret is finally told - I finally understood why she hadn't been killed yet (even as much as I loathed her). Galen had to be the one to finally do it; AND thus the Technology would indeed be lost FOREVER. I understand now. It had to be that way. The music that is woven and touches us all. Kara's finally gets them home. Of course she wouldn't have been able to figure just what she was meant to do until it was "time". Makes sense. The fact that both "Harvey Six and Gaius" (that is what
lady_m2835 and I always called them!) were in fact REAL in their way. The scene where Caprica and Baltar say "You can see this?" was just triptastic! They were always real. Always guiding them to where they needed to be for the right moment.
3. The End - likes and dislikes
Loved seeing the very beautiful shots of earth. Loved seeing Saul and Ellen get to a time and place that she had been so desperately trying to get for years. Just Saul. And her. Happy to see Helo and Athena make a new start with their daughter. Loved seeing Balter actually go back to his roots (no choice really when you're leaving most of technology behind) but with a new appreciation for it. Seeing Lee finally be free to just live and not feel in anyone's shadow. He is also finally free of his unhealthy longing for Kara. Laura and Bill's final moments were just lovely. Absolutely lovely. I needed more tissues of course. Kara is finally okay. I loved her final goodbye with Sam, and he obviously knew about her in that moment and that they'd be together soon. I was okay with her final appearance/disappearance as well. Somewhat poetic that it would be Lee - who had also been the one to see her die and then show up again. Loved Six and the Red Dress. Loved watching her and Baltar walk amongst us - it looks like the cycle was broken!? I had actually predicted they would choose the Lawyer to be the President; that was awesome!
The only real problem I have with the ending is for Lee and Bill Adama. I honestly don't like the fact that Adama just decides to check out from humanity after Laura dies. I get that he'd want to build the cabin. Absolutely. But why then do that and just sit around talking to rocks?
lady_m2835 and I agree - we think that yes he should have built the cabin. But then Lee shows up and says something like, "Ready Dad?" And off they go - exploring together. Father and son - time together. Free from their old lives and haunts. Free. It just pains me that Adama's life was over. I cannot honestly believe that Laura would have wanted that for him. Tsk tsk to Ron Moore. Badly done.
Oh and I didn't particularly care for a lot of Laura's flashbacks. I don't understand the purpose of the date and one night stand. It just doesn't make any sense to me.
Bones
Favorite parts? The talk Booth had with the boy at the end of the show. He's such a strong moral character. I LOVE him. Hodgins holding the earring. Sweets undercover and getting adjusted. More shots where Brennan is realizing just how wonderful and near perfect of a man Booth is - he just keeps educating her. The intern explaining the mix cd to Angela.
Sarah Connor
FANTASTIC episode. Oh huzzah someone finally started to watch Riley more closely and find out about Jesse. I love that it was John Connor. I love that he let her go; but I think he knew that Derek wouldn't despite orders to the contrary. It had to be Derek afterall to do the deed. The Jesse he knew and loved was already a dead woman I suppose - since I don't think they can go back? This Jesse was only a shell of the woman he'd known. It all comes down to human life and she wasted Riley's and had worked to hurt his nephew. Just really well written and acted. Is it wrong that I'm totally crushing on Thomas Dekker? Is the boy legal yet?! Ack. I'm a bit nervous for Sarah after seeing next week's previews - indeed. Loved her bit with Cameron and making her think about just WHY John would have sent her away to the past. OH and I thought it was very interesting to see that there are obviously other Terminators like the Cameron models that are looking to find a way to live with the humans and what not [remember the ep where we found out that not all of the machines want the war?]. That liquid metal could have killed anyone/everyone on that sub at any time - but she didn't. She just merely stated that they wouldn't join forced - INTERESTING. Does that liquid metal have anything to do with the current one that is seemingly doing her own kind of metal research with John Henry? HMMMM? I think John Henry is going to end up truly caring for Ellison - and that is going to be interesting. Good stuff over the past few eps! The show is BACK!
Dollhouse
Actually a pretty good episode. Really. It definitely was an episode to NOT miss. I wonder if it's the girl lab tech or the doc that is the mole. They would have had access. Does their boss lady know? I begin to wonder!? I didn't guess that creepy-neighbor-girl was a Doll; that was a great twist. I honestly thought she was gonna die. But I have to wonder, um, who is going to make sure that answering machine tape is erased? Hmm? LOL
Tahmoh is so damned hot. His fight scene with Echo was fantastic. And Eliza was actually good throughout the entire episode. All of her engagements and in doll mode. The one engagement was actually so very sweet, I got a little teary. And she was kickass beating on Tahmoh. Is it wrong that I totally imagined them getting it on out there in the alley? Cuz I did. LOL And speaking of getting it on, I'm all for watching Tahmoh do just that but the problem for me is that there isn't any chemistry between him and Mellie (I guess creepy-neighbor-girl's name is?). Zip. That bothers me.
Boyd rocks the house - every single time. I had Ahern pegged as uber disgusting guy too - liked how Boyd played that out. And loved his "bonus" scene with boss lady. Next week looks interesting.
Music Video!
Lastly, I have a new music video! I currently have it posted on YouTube. I will be posting it to my art site as well - but that site is currently being merged with my icon site and moved! The video is of course for Twilight. The song I used has been burning in my brain just waiting since reading that books last summer/fall. You can either watch it here or see larger version over at YouTube by clicking twice I think on the video. Enjoy!
