Ecuador was...incredible. It's so difficult to think of the right adjectives because saying it was fun or awesome sound wrong considering what I was there to do and what life is like in the communities I visited. We were building schools in rural communities in the Andes mountains. It seems like everyone I've ever heard speak about experiences ( Read more... )

Actually you're right - awesome in the actual sense of the word rather than the way it tends to be used now is actually a pretty fitting adjective. Everyone keeps saying that this experience must have been so life-altering, but I think if I've changed at all it's just in the sense that I complain less about the little problems in my life. It's difficult to do that, though, because this is the life we were raised in, it's what we're used to, and it's hard to hold that against someone when they haven't experienced anything less. I (and this is going to sound horrible) actually thought they'd be worse off in the communities I visited. I think I was expecting sub-saharan Africa levels of poverty, whereas some of these communities had electricity, multiple changes of clothes, school uniforms, etc.

I actually thought the GG finale would wreck me too (Dan/Serena!!!) but for some reason I was okay with it. Maybe because it wasn't like "omg so and so was murdered and now they can never ever be together again" breakups.

RDJJJJ! I'm only at 4x08, but I'm loving him so much. I'm picking up disc one of the PB DVDs tomorrow (as long as Blockbuster has it available) so I shouldn't be too far behind you. I'm SO excited to get back into the world Michael Scofield, especially when he used to have that hilarious smirk on his face all the time.
