Surf Oregon
Biking along the Oregon coast, surfing in the Pacific, sandboarding, summer snowboarding, and white water rafting: it doesn’t get any better than this. Unforgettable sights include great ocean views, majestic sea stacks, fabulous wildlife, and white sand beaches.
After meeting at Portland International Airport, we head for the coast and grab our bikes. The central Oregon coast has almost everything an outdoor enthusiast desires: sweeping views of the coast, tidepools, old growth forests, shell mounds, and excellent bike routes! Our bicycle tour takes us through quaint villages and beach towns. We stop to visit a lighthouse and play on immense sand dunes. Next, grab your wetsuit and surfboard! The Pacific Ocean is home to world-class surfing and a great place to learn the sport. After a day of instruction, we ride the waves to our hearts’ content and fall asleep to the sound of the surf at night.
With our time on the water complete, we take up the cousin to the snowboard-the sandboard. Relatively unknown, sandboarding has been declared one of the raging new sports in the States. We cruise the dunes, glide down this mysterious terrain, and earn our official "Sand Master" titles.
Heading inland, we cool off with a day of white water rafting. Our trip on the North Umpqua River offers the rush of Class III and IV white water with more rapids per mile than any river in Oregon.
No trip to Oregon would be complete without skiing or snowboarding on Mt. Hood. The contrast of descending the snowfields in our t-shirts, just days after surfing at the beach and gliding down the sand, is unforgettable. This trip truly gives us the best of all "board" worlds.
