I'm not really sure why I've been worrying about graduating on time so much.
I'm going to be fine.
I guess what it really took was me to look at my ECP (Expected Cumulative Progress) as well as my DPR (Degree Progress and/or Grade Reports) to see that I'm somewhat on top of meeting the ECP number requirements - though it doesn't count my 4.5 units transferred from SMC, so it's off from my actual unit count - and after this quarter, I'll have 153.5 units completed.
The minimum number units necessary to graduate is 180 units, which means I have a difference of 26.5 units to complete before I can graduate. As for the Upper Division units I need to complete, it says that I still need 20 more units after this quarter, meaning 5 more upper div classes. I'll have to send the academic counselor an email saying that I want to apply the Comm Studies class I'm taking right now to my upper division course requirements, under "Outside of Concentration" upper division courses. Then I won't have to take any more Chinese or Korean upper div classes.
I plan on taking Japanese 100B for Winter Quarter and 100C for Spring Quarter, and I also want to take Japanese 157 (Tradition Drama) for Winter Quarter, which would then further decress it to 8 unit left, meaning two more upper division classes. I have to also ask the counselor if those two remaining upper division courses need to be within the major, or can be outside.
In order to finish off my major degree requirements, I still need three more upper div Japanese courses (which are those three I just mentioned above). I need to take one more Writing II class (has to be General Ed approved), so I was thinking about taking Scandinavian 50W, and Prof. Tangherlini is teaching it, so I already know his style.
So those, plus the two upper div courses... 6 classes? I'm not sure. What I'm going to do now is get out a piece of paper, and work out all the numbers and courses and see if my math adds up.
