Winter 2013 Anime Thoughts / Spring 2013 Anime Line-up

Finished Series/Season:

Psycho-Pass
I wasn't as drawn into it as a lot of other people were. I also found the last episode pretty anticlimactic considering the build up prior to the end. I think people would generally like the show, though there is a lot of grotesque stuff early on... But overall, I only found it so-so.

Robotics;Notes
The penultimate episode is the reward for watching the show! In some ways, it was kind of like how sticking around in Steins;Gate also gave that sweet reward. I didn't realize that it was a game first, by the the same company that did Steins;Gate, so I didn't realize that there were characters from Steins;Gate in this show! The show started off pretty slice-of-life (with robots), but quickly becomes not something you would expect. They left a lot unanswered, but perhaps it was because of where they had to end? But I was pretty happy with the show overall.

Sakurasou no Pet na Kanojo
The colors were what mainly drew me in. And then like I mentioned before, the main guy's voice was like a mixture of different seiyuu's voices that I like. The cats were cute... There's funny stuff, happy stuff, and then the drama. But it was nice that there was a balance. Even so, it didn't feel like they developed the characters that much. Kind of interesting to see into the creative arts side of things, though.

Bakuman. 3
So sad there won't be any more Bakuman. after this! They reached the absolute end of the manga with this season; it was great to see the PCP and Reversi arcs animated. It's nice that they added in just a little bit during the ending song sequence, wrapped things up a little more nicely.

MaoYuu
For a show that's only one season long, this one is probably the best. It's got everything: history, demons, magic, little ones, big ones, etc. etc. hahaha. Too bad it couldn't be longer, they ended it right in the middle of things.

Zetsuen no Tempest
One of the heavier shows, I can only watch it when I'm in the mood to watch something serious. They quote a lot of Shakespeare (Hamlet, The Tempest). Fuwa and Yoshino are a good balance. I like Yoshino better (I think I tend to like his type of character more). It ended pretty well though, quite apt for calling it "Tempest." I might be tempted to check out the manga, as I've heard that the manga is ending as well.

Hakkenden
It seems like this show is only one season, but it doesn't seem like there has been much development. I mean, they introduced the characters who seem like they'd be part of the eight that need to be gathered, but the pacing is... The potential was there, but it doesn't feel like it was reached.
Nevermind what I wrote. Found out that there'll be a second season. In that case, there's more time for development. =P Summer 2013 for season 2. I thought that the character introduction was too long. Pretty much 3/4 of the season was just getting the characters fleshed out. At least the last 1/4 started delving deeper. Sousuke's thing definitely made me thing of Syaoran in Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicle.

Magi
I had it backlogged for a while, but when I finally caught up, the final Kassim episode... I had to keep wiping the rolling tears away. As for where they are now with Hakuryuu, I think that may have been approximately where I left off in the manga. To me, it was the perfect place for them to end the season. XDb (now I need to go and catch up with the manga...)

Backlogged Series:

Shinsekai Yori
I last watched ep.3... so I haven't even gotten into the main of it yet.

Phi Brain (S1+S2)
Working!! (S2)
Kimi to Boku 2

Continuing Series:

Chihayafuru 2
It's catching up to the manga pretty quickly. I still like it, but, in my opinion, it's not as captivating as the first season was.
