Summer 2012 Anime Watchlist; Potential Fall 2012 Anime Watchlist
So, the new season has started! I'll approach this in the order I tried them out.
Tari Tari
First thing I noticed about this was the Enoshima background (more Enoshima tourist promotion!), and then. Pastel. First thought, was this by the people who worked on Hanasaku Iroha? I looked it up, and, why yes, it is! (PA Works) Next, I was momentarily confused when I heard the choir singing "Reflectia" by Eufonius (True Tears OP), and was questioning myself as to whether I heard it right, haha. Very slice of life, has singing, badminton, Japanese student who lived abroad for many years and re-adapting... and a brother that enjoys taking baths. If they make a habit out of it, I'm going to laugh so much. XD
Verdict: KEEP
Chōyaku Hyakunin Isshu: Uta Koi
Kaji as the narrator... not too bad, but kind of weird all the same. The opening? It has so much kissing, which is not very appealing. Also hearing Shimono in the first scene after the OP made me laugh right away... old-style formal language + Shimono = I can't take it seriously. Also, you can tell what influenced the first poem choice, LOL. In any case, I gave this one a couple eps, each 1/2 ep is a new couple. But, I just don't think I can take it serious. It may also be the OP and ED songs, especially the ED song, which is rap?? Hard to wrap my head around. I think some may enjoy it, but it's not for me.
Verdict: DROP
Natsuyuki Rendezvous
Nakamura (Oreki in Hyouka) voices Hazuki (the main character). =D After reading the premise, and noting that it was by Noitamina, I gave it a go since I'd probably like it anyways. And then! Wasn't expecting that kind of plot device or whatever it's called! LOL And there are certain very awkward situations to watch... Don't really care too much about the OP that is sung by Matsushita Yuya, but the ED, it's by Aimer! =D
Verdict: KEEP
Jinrui wa Suitaishimashita
You can't really tell anything from the premise. First thing you see is bright colors, which may be reminiscent of a toned down version from Tsuritama. And then... the opening. What was I watching?? O_O; The more the show continues, the more you end up gawking. Carrot bread, what??? Episode 2 and chickens... Episode 3 and doujinshi... How the main character is depicted versus how she talks and acts is so different, I find it funny. I'd say definitely watch episode 2. XD But, I think I'm not going to follow this one.
Verdict: DROP
La storia della Arcana Famiglia
This one definitely has lots of eye candy and known seiyuu. But it definitely feels weak, at least from what I've seen in the first few episodes. I mean, they spent half of an episode on one thing that I think they could have made shorter... Sorry, but no.
Verdict: DROP
Kokoro Connect
So confusing. When it started, I just couldn't keep up. But I'm sure making the viewer feel confused is the way to make the viewer empathize with the characters, since they're also confused. And Inaba! She's voiced by Sawashiro Miyuki~ ♥ I love her voice. The other girl characters, their voices are higher... Also, the moment I saw the girl with glasses in the opening and her first scenes, I immediately thought, "This is maiki, animated." XD
Verdict: KEEP
Sword Art Online
I was highly anticipating this one. Probably why I kept it last. Since I saw the light novels in Kino announcing that it was going to have an anime, I've been looking forward to it. Others had started watching it already, and I saw they also gave it good reviews. =D My first impressions were good. The animation quality in the first ep! Definitely worth the anticipation. The story is of the adventure/bouken type, but the main male character is not a weakling (in some senses). Something about the title card made me think of Brave Story. I think I chalked it up to the font or something of that sort. And it being an adventure-type story. =)
Verdict: KEEP

Making for a total of 9 shows for the summer season.
