4367: Short Fuse

I have been informed that there is some kind of Cancer Awareness month or other going on. Thus, I will share an eloquent article I was lucky enough to find again after fearing I'd lost it, one that pinpoints exactly what had been putting me off the whole Pink Ribbon ("Pink Nausea") thing: Detailing the Problems of Breast Cancer Culture

tl;dr:"Pink Ribbons, Inc.," which will premiere locally at the Washington, D.C., International Film Festival in April, has impeccable timing and a subject ripe for exploration - namely, the normalizing of an agonizing, widespread and often deadly disease and its repackaging as a lifestyle, what critics call "breast cancer culture." (Emphasis on the "cult.") The film is also an indictment of the industries that both align themselves against and profit from the disease, which is to say, the pharmaceutical, chemical and consumer-goods companies that manufacture products containing cancer-causing toxins at the same time that they market treatments, palliatives and charity goods in service of finding a "cure."
True, I don't doubt that there have been many a survivor who has been grateful to find invaluable friends through Walk for the Cure and etc., but as is detailed in countless links I could add but can't be bothered to find due to time restraints [just look up "cancer overscreening"], many of them also might never have been in the position of having to survive their cancer in the first place.

I am glad to have accidentally never contributed to Susan G. Komen et al., mostly out of revulsion of the branding than the advertised cause, but it also bugs me that other such flagrant corruption is harder to avoid. At least the Pink Nausea shit is colour-coded.

I am also pretty mad it took me FORTY-FIVE MINUTES to get home [normally a fifteen-minute drive, I know, bloo hoo hoo poor bebehh] because there was an accident JUST AFTER THE ON-RAMP. >_< FOUR LANES merging onto the single off-ramp! ...which is weird, because... I guess the accident was just beyond where they were making everyone exit? 'cause I didn't see anything.

SO MAD I can't see shit like that before I exit and have time to change my mind. Stupid trees 9_9 [though more like stupid commute--I'd love to live in Germantown again and have NO commute, if the rent would stop being ass]

pinky, ihatepeople, ihatedriving, sucks
