Well, that was a weekend.
The primary item of business was the 2012 Summer Delmarva Shmupmeet, which is generally three guys from the forum come here to hang for the [Satur]day. Unbeknownst to us, Dan [and Toby] ALSO planned some kind of a thing on Saturday, so it LITERALLY was two levels of house party D= [luckily, the house accomodates such a thing somewhat easily, though parking is a different matter]
Zack B. (
nofna) also dropped in for the weekend, heading back today [though he snuck out before I could ditch work to see him off... *shakes fist*], and much
hilarity ensued. Though I neglected to mention in the comments that the reason for the POV shift between videos is the original grill wouldn't stay lit, so they moved us to a new one, but I don't really think anyone is paying attention to that.
*MY* biggest accomplishment was getting way ahead on
daily sketches, though I haven't started a new one today due to being mad exhausted from various things that kept me from resting well. Yesterday was particularly off-setting from the heat from driving down to Tysons to see
the sights + walking around + Chipotle [admittedly my first time eating there, and I sincerely do NOT see the appeal--nor does my stomach a day later], which left me bombed on the couch upon our return only to end up zombie-like from bedtime until well into bedtime...
Anyway, post-work, post-shopping, and post-dinner, I zonked out again today. Barely awake now to do dailies and try to get on that elusive art progress I keep wanting to get -_-
The last thing before bed yesterday in our winding-down hours, C and I taught Zack how to play Dominion, which seems to be the easiest* game to teach anyone who isn't accustomed to playing board/card games. I could have sworn I was way behind in the first round, but I ended up winning by at least six? points and I can't even remember why \=' That seems like an odd statement, but the second game was the memorable one, because Fools Gold + Tunnel + Oasis + Embassy [though mishandled--we forgot the "everyone else gets a Silver" rule] = depleted half the Gold deck[!!!] o_O
I would have won that one as well, but Zack--who could have ended the game--decided to keep it going because he said he was having too much fun in his Tunnels. Instead, C got the last Province and just edged me out [I couldn't get it on my turn].
*easiest high-level play game--I mean, it's pretty easy to teach something like Go Fish, but who wants to play that over and over again after getting the gist of it, and even if we had Apples to Apples, that has a saturation point, besides being significantly less fun with fewer than five people
Would be kinda interesting to get the Shmupmeeters in on some board game action, but as it is there's never a point when enough people are tired of playing/watching others play shmups/fighting games/Panel de Pon to suggest anything, except when it's Piss O'Clock, by which time everyone decides to go home. Not that
maximx wouldn't totally go in on board games if suggested, but he was divided between the two halves of the house party as it was.
Anyway, this week is Recovery Week--the hangover, if you will x_x though it's good to have C getting out of the house now for something other than to allay cabin fever =p
