4208: Learning One's Craft

Apr 26, 2012 00:38

I got a few more lines down in my comic today, which is nothing short of amazing... sadly =/ but a lot of it has to do with 1. my back-up plan to "cheat" and post old sketches I never posted and 2. painting a pony.

On the latter: I recall being sold on Bullitt as "totally accurate" with the double-clutches during the big chase scene. In doing my research, I notice that it's actually a GT40 dubbed over the Fastback. [I needed to know the exact model to know what my pony's name and cutie mark were supposed to be. [Sadly, not a Cobra, because now I have to do TWO more ponies! [OH WELL]]] Point being... um... well, SOMEBODY'S wrong. Okay, vague of me to say, but I'm trying not to be too mean about it, though I still have some sore spots about being told what's "right" and how wrong I am for X, Y, and Z.

But I finished the "watercolour" from yesterday and submitted that to Neojank, so y'all are free to see the final. Don't know if I'll update the post on Tumblr to reflect this--depends on if the SB mod doubles back and reblogs it or not [if not--which is 100% likely--and you see ink lines, then I updated it]. I'm almost kinda getting back into paints, but certainly my "gold" gouache has deteriorated now to the point where I actually had to puncture the tube [on accident] to get any out. Still good, what I could get to, but the stuff at the top was completely solidified and I was too impatient to water it down and siphon it out.

Still pretty certain the gold was a waste, even at clearance prices. Gives an interesting sheen to the pic, though, even if it doesn't show up in the scan for reasons relating to reflectivity and how that isn't reflected [so to speak] in a static image. [I mixed it with Primary Yellow, FTR--straight "gold" looks more like an ugly copper.]

So I am nearly but not quite done with the dog book, then I will likely take The Pelican Brief in and leave it there. Then... not sure. Someone left a copy of 21: Bringing Down the House [I think is the title and don't feel like making sure], which I might flip through to see how it differs from the movie if story/what sort of strategies they detail if biography. Other than that, I guess I might take another random draw.

Speaking of random draw, the monthly [work] newsletter came out, and it had another "Who is this?" guess-the-employee thing, which is significant only in that this dialogue occurred:Falco: No one got it so far!
Sammo Hung*: Can we guess more than once?
Swiper**: Can we do that? Sure, I guess.
Sammo Hung: I'm gonna put EVERYBODY'S name!
*I am so uncreative. He's a big Asian dude.
**The Marketing person who keeps robbing from my cube.

There was also a thing about the "Bring Your Child To Work Day" thing tomorrow, plus a riddle to exemplify what kinds of things they need to be learning in order to work for the company one day--STEM and that. It's been a bit, so I'll share, even though it's primarily algebra [the riddle-solving mechanism of math]:Given a set of four positive, unique [non-repeating] integers, adding any three of them together will equal one of the following numbers: 46, 50, 54, and 57. What is the largest integer of this set?
I think it took me ten minutes to do because I forgot that algebra would be the fastest way [I worked with multiples of two at first and got nowhere]. I thought about mentioning it when Swiper mentioned putting it in the newsletter at someone's request but not having been given the answer--but eh, I was eating when all this was going on [birthday cake ran into the end of my predetermined lunch period at 12:30p].

Though, it's funny[?] hearing Falco say how Swiper puts in the newsletter to e-mail answers to her [Falco], so she gets all these e-mails with names and she has no idea who the correct answer is =p Hey, Left Hand, what's that Right Hand doing? ¬_¬

I also kinda want to go ahead and just see Hangry Games this weekend if I get enough progress in art, just so I can get through the book already, but thanks to reading that article I already know stuff that got cut out... and that the other "tributes" are black NOT JUST WHITE PEOPLE WITH A DEEP TAN... so... guess it depends on if I finish my chores, though! XB~~~
